Introducing the Christine Dreger Memorial Fund 💜
Our newest, and 4th fund of the Sit & Stay Pet Support Fund, through the Scranton Area Community Foundation.
In honor of Nic’s mum, who loved animals so deeply, and had an open door policy for all four legged, feathered, finned creatures. She would have been 69 today, and while we spend every day missing her, wishing she was still watching our stories, and keeping track of all her favorite pack members, we think this fund is the perfect way to keep her alive and with us, while continuing our mission.
The Christine Dreger Memorial Fund is specifically to help with end of life services for our favorite family members. This fund exists in partnership with Aspen Meadows Pet Aquamation & Memorial Services, whose mission is similar to ours, and hearts are dedicated to pets in North Eastern Pennsylvania.
When we first met with them, they told us about how sometimes not every pet parent has the necessary funds to put their pets to rest. They have a “community garden” where their remains will go, and their aquamation will happen with other pets of similar circumstances. Those pets will never return home, they will never find their way back to the mantelpiece, where their family can look at them and smile, see a piece of their fur, the print of their paw. Sometimes because that’s what is chosen, but more often than not, simply because their family can’t afford any other option.
Aspen Meadows has kindly and generously agreed to work with us, to create a fund, to ensure that families will be able to bring their beloved family members home with them. To rest, where they belong, while crossing to the other side peacefully.
If you, or anyone you know, finds themselves in this position, during one of the most difficult moments of their life, they can work directly with Aspen Meadows, and then apply for our help. The last thing we want people to worry about is how they can afford to bring them home.
