Dog Sports Friday 🐾

Carting 🛒🐕

Carting is one of the oldest working dog sports—and an amazing example of dogs doing the jobs many of them were originally bred for.

Dogs learn to:
✔️ Pull carts
✔️ Navigate obstacles
✔️ Respond to handler cues
✔️ Work calmly in harness

And despite common misconceptions… ❌ Good carting is NOT about forcing dogs to pull excessive weight.

Safe carting focuses on:
🐾 Proper conditioning
🐾 Correct equipment
🐾 Gradual training
🐾 Teamwork and willingness

For many working breeds, having a job can be incredibly fulfilling.

Because some dogs don’t just need exercise— they need purpose, structure, and engagement.

Okay let’s settle this 👀🐾

Do your pets:
🛋️ Get on the furniture?
🛏️ Sleep in bed with you?
🚫 Or are there strict house rules?

Be honest… Whose bed is it REALLY? 😂

Drop your answers (or photos 👀) below!

Training Tip Tuesday 🐾

Yes… you CAN over socialize a dog.
One of the biggest training myths is: ❌ “More socialization is always better.”

But true socialization is NOT about forcing dogs to interact with everyone and everything.

It’s about:
✔️ Building confidence
✔️ Creating positive experiences
✔️ Teaching calm neutrality
✔️ Helping dogs safely navigate the world

Not creating dogs that feel entitled to greet every person, dog, or distraction they see.

Over-socialization can sometimes lead to:
⚠️ Overstimulation
⚠️ Reactivity
⚠️ Frustration
⚠️ Hyper-social behavior
⚠️ Poor impulse control

Good socialization often looks boring:
🐾 Calm observation
🐾 Safe exposure
🐾 Neutrality
🐾 Learning to disengage

Because the goal isn’t “my dog loves everything.”

The goal is: 👉 “My dog can exist calmly and confidently around things.”

Quality matters more than quantity every single time.

Behavior Myth Monday 🇺🇸🐾

“My dog is just being stubborn.”
Maybe not.

Memorial Day weekend can be REALLY overwhelming for a lot of dogs.

Suddenly there’s:
🎆 Fireworks
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Crowds
🏡 House guests
🚗 Travel
🔊 Noise and excitement
📅 Routine changes

And stress in dogs often looks like:
⚠️ Barking
⚠️ Pacing
⚠️ Clinginess
⚠️ Reactivity
⚠️ Difficulty settling
⚠️ “Not listening”

That’s not always disobedience— sometimes it’s overwhelm.

Not every dog enjoys busy gatherings, loud sounds, or constant social interaction.

And good ownership sometimes means advocating for your dog by:
✔️ Giving them space
✔️ Providing calm environments
✔️ Letting them opt out
✔️ Supporting them through stressful situations

Because a stressed dog isn’t a bad dog.
Holiday weekends can be hard on pets too. ❤️🐾

Memorial Day always reminds me of the ones we’ve lost and carry with us forever ❤️🐾

This is Daisy.

I lost her a couple years ago, but there will never be a day she isn’t missed. She was so much more than “just a dog.” She was comfort, routine, companionship, and unconditional love wrapped into one tiny little body.

Some dogs leave paw prints on your floors… Some leave them on your heart forever.

Thank you for every cuddle, every happy greeting, every quiet moment beside me, and every memory that still makes me smile through the tears.

You will always be special to me, sweet girl.
Forever loved. Forever missed. 🌼🐾

If you’ve lost a pet, feel free to share their name or a photo below in honor of them today. ❤️

Caturday Saturday 🐾✨

Stylish homes can still be cat friendly.

One of the biggest myths about cat enrichment is: ❌ “It ruins the aesthetic.”

But modern cat furniture has come SUCH a long way.

Cats naturally need:
🐾 Climbing
🐾 Scratching
🐾 Perching
🐾 Hiding
🐾 Observing their environment

And when those needs AREN’T met? That’s often when we see:
⚠️ Furniture scratching
⚠️ Counter climbing
⚠️ Boredom behaviors
⚠️ Multi-cat tension

The good news 👇
You can now find:
✔️ Minimalist cat trees
✔️ Floating shelves
✔️ Stylish scratchers
✔️ Hidden litter furniture
✔️ Modern climbing systems

That actually blend beautifully into your home.
Because enrichment isn’t just about keeping cats busy— it’s about helping them feel safe, fulfilled, and able to express natural behaviors.

At the end of the day: 👉 The best homes support BOTH the humans and the cats living there.

Dog Sports Friday 🐾

Treibball ⚽🐕

Think herding… but with giant exercise balls instead of sheep.

Treibball teaches dogs to push large balls into a goal while responding to handler cues and working as a team.

And honestly? It’s AMAZING enrichment.

Dogs learn:
✔️ Directionals
✔️ Impulse control
✔️ Problem solving
✔️ Distance work
✔️ Focus and teamwork

This sport is mentally exhausting in the best way possible.

And while herding breeds often love it, Treibball isn’t just for Border Collies or Aussies— ANY dog can enjoy it with the right training.

The best part? 👉 It builds engagement and regulation, not just physical exhaustion.

Because a fulfilled dog often needs more than exercise alone.

Pets always find their “thing” 😂🐾

What’s something your dog or cat is absolutely obsessed with?

Bonus points if it makes NO sense.

Sometimes these quirky little obsessions are actually great insight into:
✔️ Breed tendencies
✔️ Enrichment preferences
✔️ Natural instincts
✔️ Personality traits

Tell me your pet’s weird favorite thing 👇

Training Tip Tuesday 🐾

Discover what works for YOUR family 🏠

Dog training is not one-size-fits-all.
Every dog is different.

Every household is different.

And every family has different goals, routines, abilities, and lifestyles.
What works beautifully for one dog may:
⚠️ Overwhelm another
⚠️ Be unrealistic for another household
⚠️ Not fit a family’s actual daily life
And that’s okay.

Good training should improve life for BOTH the dog and the humans living together.

For some families, success looks like:
✔️ Loose leash walking
✔️ Calm greetings
✔️ Less barking
✔️ Better coping skills
✔️ Learning to settle peacefully
Not perfection.

Not social media standards.
Not comparison.

The best training plans are:
🐾 Practical
🐾 Sustainable
🐾 Adaptable
🐾 Built around communication and understanding

Because realistic training is successful training.

Behavior Myth Monday 🐾

“Aggression comes out of nowhere.”
Most of the time—it doesn’t.

Dogs and cats usually communicate discomfort LONG before aggression happens.

The problem is that many warning signs are:
⚠️ Missed
⚠️ Misunderstood
⚠️ Or punished

Before a bite, snap, hiss, or fight, animals often show subtle stress signals like:
👀 Whale eye
👅 Lip licking
🧍 Stiff posture
↩️ Avoidance
⚠️ Growling or hissing

These signals matter.
And here’s something important 👇
Punishing warning signals can actually make aggression MORE dangerous.

If animals learn:
❌ “Growling gets me punished…”
They may stop warning and escalate faster next time.

Aggression is often connected to: 🐾 Fear
🐾 Pain
🐾 Stress
🐾 Frustration
🐾 Resource guarding
🐾 Overstimulation

It’s not usually about being “bad” or “dominant.”

Aggression is communication.
And often, it’s the LAST step in a long chain of signals asking for space, safety, or relief.
