We're not entirely sure how someone loses 200 pounds worth of dog and doesn't call looking for them, but here we are.
Meet Mango and Nectarine.
These two giant gentlemen came in together and, as far as we can tell, intend to continue doing everything together. They're both around 100 pounds. They both seem friendly. They both did well with the dogs we tested them with. And because apparently matching outfits weren't enough, they both tested positive for Lyme disease.
At this point, we should probably just buy stock in doxycycline because these two are about to wipe out an entire bottle by themselves.
Mango is a 4-year-old black male and Nectarine is a 7-year-old tan male. We suspect they're related, although neither has agreed to provide documentation.
And because we know you're going to ask, what breed are they?
Probably Lab mixes.
Maybe Great Dane mixes.
Possibly horse mixes.
Honestly, your guess is as good as ours.
They're both tall, both large, and both have that classic shelter dog trait where everyone who meets them confidently identifies them as a completely different breed.
Both boys have a few lumps that we'll have checked out when they see our veterinarian for their neuters. Mango has also decided shelter life is stressful enough to give himself a hot spot, which we're treating and expect to heal up nicely.
For now, they're settling in, taking their medicine, and wondering why nobody has come looking for two dogs that collectively weigh as much as a refrigerator.
If you're looking for a lot of dog, we have approximately 200 pounds of it available.
