As we have over the last few years, the Dog Shoppe will be closing for a week in September! We will be closed from September 8th thru the 11th and resume normal appointments on September 15th. I’ll post again closer to the date, but I wanted to give advanced warning for people who like to schedule ahead. Get your appointments in now, because we’ll fill up fast!

A lot of people out there have dogs who are thunder shy or scared of fireworks, like mine. This year I tried something that seemed pretty helpful, so I thought I would share. It’s called Selio Gel. It works by blocking the chemicals linked to the fight or flight response. It was pretty helpful for us through the 4th of July and recent storms.

As always, consult your vet before trying anything, and it does require a prescription. Fortunately, it’s not too terribly expensive.

Hey folks! Summer seems to be cooking on a little earlier than usual, so it’s time for the yearly reminder! If pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s no good for dog paws. Do your best to keep your pups off hot asphalt. Quick trips to a car are fine, but depending on the day it may only take a minute or two for some sore paws! Stay cool out there!
