As we have over the last few years, the Dog Shoppe will be closing for a week in September! We will be closed from September 8th thru the 11th and resume normal appointments on September 15th. I’ll post again closer to the date, but I wanted to give advanced warning for people who like to schedule ahead. Get your appointments in now, because we’ll fill up fast!

Stormy skies today, it looks like we’re in for it! Definitely a day for turning up the tv for all the storm shy pups out there. Stay dry, folks.

A lot of people out there have dogs who are thunder shy or scared of fireworks, like mine. This year I tried something that seemed pretty helpful, so I thought I would share. It’s called Selio Gel. It works by blocking the chemicals linked to the fight or flight response. It was pretty helpful for us through the 4th of July and recent storms.

As always, consult your vet before trying anything, and it does require a prescription. Fortunately, it’s not too terribly expensive.

Hey folks! Summer seems to be cooking on a little earlier than usual, so it’s time for the yearly reminder! If pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s no good for dog paws. Do your best to keep your pups off hot asphalt. Quick trips to a car are fine, but depending on the day it may only take a minute or two for some sore paws! Stay cool out there!

The Christmas season has begun! We’re looking forward to Christmas lights and clean pups for the holiday!

The Shoppe will begin booking fast for December, so if you’re considering getting your pup primped for the holiday, please keep that in mind!

This year we will be taking appointments up to and including Christmas Eve!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! We will resume taking appointments on Tuesday, December 2nd and ramping up for the Christmas season! Before that happens, we hope everyone has a great Turkey Day! Please remember to be careful feeding your dogs holiday scraps, fat rich food can be bad for pups!

Support the local arts! Chiefland has a fantastic community theater, with amazing people who put a great deal of work into everything they put forward. This weekend was no exception! Footloose was a fantastic production, and if you miss it, you’re missing out.
