This is who makes Morningside shine. ✨

Behind every veterinary team is a group of people who were once children with big dreams, tender hearts, and a love for animals that never went away. These little kids grew up into the people comforting nervous pets, supporting worried owners, keeping the hospital running, making each other laugh through hard days, and caring deeply for every patient who walks through our doors.

Last Saturday we had such a great time at the K-9 Classic! ☀️🐾🍃

We’re so grateful to everyone who braved the windy weather to come out and make the day so fun and memorable.

We loved spending the day representing Morningside, meeting so many wonderful dogs (both familiar faces and brand new friends) and cheering everyone on throughout the event.

Our booth stayed busy with free food and treat samples, plus our “Bobbing for Tennis Balls” station where pups could cool their heels in the wading pool and fish out their very own tennis ball!

We were honored to have our own Kayla M. serving as a judge for the Mutt Strut parade and friendly competition — not an easy task with that much cuteness in one place!

Thank you to Chico Area Recreation & Park District for inviting us to be part of the K-9 Classic, and thanks again to everyone who stopped by to say hello, share stories about your pets, and support a windy but wonderful community event. 💛

🚧 Road Construction Update: On Friday, May 15, a closure of Forest Avenue will prevent access to our hospital from that direction. Thankfully, access from Flying V Street will be open, so visitors can reach us via Notre Dame Blvd. Just turn onto Robailey Drive, left on Bar Triangle St, right on Flying V St to us at 555 Flying V St, Suite 10.

We recently had the pleasure of celebrating our client Jackson, who just turned 14! 🎉

For a larger dog, that’s a truly special milestone. One worth celebrating with an extra treat (and a festive hat!)

As our pets reach their golden years, their needs start to change. From routine lab work and more frequent check-ins to mobility support and medication adjustments, these years are all about staying ahead of subtle shifts and keeping them comfortable, happy, and feeling their best.

We’re honored to be part of Jackson’s journey and to support patients like him through every stage of life—especially the golden ones. 💛

Please join us in wishing a very happy World Veterinary Day to Dr. Crowson! 💙

Since joining Morningside last fall, Dr. Crowson has become an integral part of our team, bringing thoughtful medicine, calm leadership, and a collaborative spirit to daily practice. His gentle approach with patients, commitment to evidence-based care, and genuine connection with clients reflect the kind of medicine we value most.

He approaches his work with compassion and steadiness, offering clinical expertise with clarity and kindness, and bringing a welcome sense of humor to even the busiest days. His background as a wildlife technician helped shape a deep understanding of animal behavior and low-stress handling techniques that support safer, more positive experiences for patients, clients, and staff. As a Chico local, he cares deeply about this community, and we’re grateful to have his skill and perspective as part of Morningside.

And of course, no celebration of Dr. Crowson would be complete without his golden sidekick Rio 🐶, who keeps the hospital supplied with joy, comic relief, and occasional lighthearted chaos.

Today is World Veterinary Day, and we couldn’t let it pass without sharing a slightly unauthorized but very necessary celebration of our two veterinarians, who deserve far more recognition than they’d ever ask for. First up: our fearless leader, Dr McGann!

Please join us in wishing a happy World Veterinary Day to Dr McGann, the heart and vision behind Morningside. 💛

Morningside exists because of her determination to create the kind of veterinary hospital she believed should exist: a place where pets receive exceptional, compassionate medicine; where clients can trust they’ll be treated with honesty and respect; and where veterinary professionals can build meaningful careers in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Her vision created Morningside, but it’s her clinical skill, intuition, mentorship and heart that continue to shape who we are through every chapter of growth. The standards we hold ourselves to — from gentle handling and modern medicine to accessibility, integrity, and teamwork — reflect what she believes veterinary care should be because it’s how she shows up as a doctor. She leads by example, inspires us daily, and has built something truly special for pets, clients, and our team alike.
