My first dog. My first real partner in life.

This photo was from our first year together—before I knew just how much he would shape me. From 19 years old into my mid-30s, he was by my side through everything. We had seasons where we had nothing… even living out of my car for two months when I first came to Chicago. But I was never alone. He kept me safe, grounded, and gave me a reason to keep going when things felt impossible.

He taught me patience. He taught me compassion. He showed me a kind of love I hadn’t experienced before.

I truly don’t think I’d be where I am today without him. And Katelyn's Dog Pack wouldn’t exist without Kovu.

The bond we have with our dogs is something you can’t explain—you just feel it.

Spring + a little extra fluff + some humidity… it happens. This is your gentle reminder to keep those paw pads trimmed and dry—too much moisture (and too many oils) can lead to yeast buildup.

A quick wipe with medicated wipes + keeping things dry goes a long way.

Now look at her—clean, comfy, and with a little extra pep in her step ✨ the camera still isn’t doing her justice.

Ellie’s in a big growth phase right now—and it hasn’t been the easiest 🐾

She’s been working through some “stranger danger” barking and a little anxiety, but today she showed up brave. Joining a group of 5 dachshunds her size, learning how to read their energy, and figuring out how to exist in the moment without shutting down.

That’s what this stage is about—confidence isn’t instant, it’s built.

Watching her navigate new puppy energy, push past her nerves, and still choose to engage… that’s a win.

They really do grow up fast. It feels like just yesterday she was as tiny as one of the dachshunds in this reel 🥹

One whole year of Ellie 🐾🎉

We celebrated the only way that made sense… an all-day adventure across the city. A birthday scavenger hunt filled with pup cups from Starbucks, surprise biscuit stops (including our favorite local dentist 🦷🐶), and treats from a few of our go-to cafés.

Then we hit the zoo—Ellie got to see zebras, cows, horses, ducks, geese, and even turtles. Safe to say, she was fully invested in every second of it. We walked for miles in the sunshine, played fetch in the park, and ended the day surrounded by her best friends.

Now she’s wrapping it all up with a steak dinner and her very own birthday cake 🎂🥩

Ellie, you’ve grown into the most incredible, smart, and loving girl. Watching you come into your own this past year has meant everything. My big ONE year old 🤍
