October 1 = National Black Dog Day đź–¤

Today we’re shining a little extra light on black and dark-coated dogs, who can be easier to overlook in shelters. There are plenty of incredible black dogs waiting right now to be seen & celebrated.

October = Pitbull Awareness Month 🫶🏼
A month to challenge misconceptions & remember that appearance or kennel presence say very little about the dog inside. Every dog is an individual, with their own personality, quirks, & capacity for love.

Our black (or B&W) Chicago shelter dogs are here. They’re waiting. And they deserve to be seen.

Let’s make sure they don’t have to wait even longer to be noticed.

Dogs do improve our existence immediately. Cold Brew is proof of that.

He’s silly, smart, & makes everyone around him smile.
Oh, and he has a twisted front leg. We don’t know what caused it but, honestly, Cold Brew doesn’t seem particularly interested in making it a thing.
He’s too busy being Cold Brew: showing off his commands, being goofy, loving hard, & having fun.

We believe that is the whole point. Cold Brew doesn’t need his leg to be explained or apologized for. It’s just one small part of a dog who has so much more to offer.

People spend way too much time looking for the “perfect” dog: the right breed, the right looks, no quirks, no issues… when dogs like Cold Brew are right here, ready to make anyone’s life better.

You don’t need a “perfect” dog. You just need to see the dog in front of you.

Bonafied Dog Rescue is accepting foster apps for Cold Brew!! 🤞🏼 reach out to them, or DM us, if you’re interested!
