Ok everyone, I have this foster dog. Meet Iggy. He flew over from Kosovo a few days ago and needs a permanent place to crash. This dog has a fantastic temperament and would be a great “starter Malinois.” He’s not a sport/working candidate, but he will make a great active pet. If you’d like to meet him, please contact the rescue directly. (Info is in pictures.)

Aaaaaand THIS is why we NEVER throw a stick for our dogs to play with or to retrieve.

It’s just too easy for a dog to become impaled on a stick if it happens to land the slightest bit wrong when you throw it.

This dog is with German Shepherd Rescue and needs a home or foster. We were asked to look at him and give our thoughts on his temperament. We only had about 30 minutes with him, but this is what we gathered.

He’s a strong dog with a somewhat aloof temperament. He has potential to do sport work or PP work. He will work for a toy and has solid nerve.

Good balance of prey/defense drive. Clear-headed and settles back down quickly.

Has a bit of obedience training, and seems to enjoy training.

He is strong-willed and will need an experienced handler. (This is NOT code for, “Bad temperament/management case” which is what, “needs an experienced handler.” often means.

This is a very nice dog, but he is a strong dog and needs a handler who understands strong dogs.)

He’s about 2, neutered, UTD on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped

I don’t have any info on adopting or his current situation. The above email is the primary contact for anyone interested in him.

Working Dog Looking for Handler.

Drago (PDC) is a 2 y/o intact male Belgian Malinois.

I consider him a medium drive dog. He earned his PDC 10/10/21. He is a social, outgoing dog, good with people, puppies, adult dogs and other intact males.

Hunt drive tested well, but he is not imprinted on any odor.

Drago would be a good candidate for a beginner sport home. He is not a patrol dog candidate. Serious inquiries, please PM me for more info, no brokers.

These things are no good. Don’t buy them and throw them out if you already have them!

Heads up dog lovers! A dog-friendly warning regarding the Xmas treats many stores are now starting to stock for dogs for the holidays.

Many of these so-called treats end up with the dog "enjoying" some time in a veterinary surgery over Christmas.

The vast majority of these rawhide products and treats come from China, where there are vastly reduced safety standards to those we rely on in the U.S.

The chews are made from cattle or horse hides and their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a toxic sodium sulfide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white "pure" look and remove the rancid smell. You may know hydrogen peroxide is commonly used to make dogs vomit up poisons but it can cause lasting damage to intestines.

Now come the pretty festive colors and the glue to form cute shapes. On testing, these chews have shown traces of arsenic, mercury, chromium, and formaldehyde! Yeesh - you would never knowingly feed these toxins to yourself or your dogs, right?

If that wasn't bad enough, these "treats" regularly cause intestinal blockages, poisoning from chemical residue and choking. The chews are slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog.

Leave them in the shop where they belong or if some well-meaning person buys them for your dog store them safely away from your dog and then dispatch in the garbage bin!
