Do Cats Need Professional Grooming Too? 🐈🛁

🐱 Did you know cats can benefit from professional grooming, too?

Many people assume cats never need grooming because they clean themselves. While cats are excellent self-groomers, they can still develop tangles, mats, excess loose hair, and coat buildup.

Professional grooming may be helpful for:

🐾 Long-haired cats that develop knots and mats.
🐾 Cats that shed heavily.
🐾 Senior cats or cats that have difficulty grooming themselves.
🐾 Cats whose coats need extra maintenance.

Regular brushing at home can help reduce loose hair and tangles. Professional grooming can help manage the coat, trim nails, and address grooming needs that are difficult to handle at home.

What about hairballs? Cats swallow loose hair while grooming, and some of that hair can contribute to hairballs. Regular brushing may help reduce the amount of loose hair they swallow, although it cannot eliminate hairballs completely.

Every cat is different, so grooming should be tailored to their coat, comfort, and temperament.

At K9 Feline Master Cutz, our name says it all—we care for feline family members, too! ❤️

🐈 Cat parents, when was your cat’s last grooming appointment?

Have you ever brushed your dog at home, only to find tangles and mats returning a few days later? You’re not alone!

🐾 Why does matting happen?

Mats form when loose hair, friction, moisture, and everyday activity cause fur to tangle together. They commonly develop behind the ears, under the collar, beneath the legs, around the tail, and in areas where your pet’s body rubs together.

Here are three ways to help prevent mats between grooming appointments:

1. Brush regularly using tools appropriate for your dog’s coat type.
2. Pay extra attention to friction areas, especially behind the ears and under the legs.
3. Keep up with a consistent professional grooming schedule—often every 4–6 weeks for coats that mat easily.

⚠️ Important: Never cut mats out with household scissors. Mats can pull the skin tightly, making it easy to accidentally cut your pet. Severe matting may require a shorter haircut by a professional groomer.

At K9 Feline Master Cutz, we assess your pet’s coat and discuss practical grooming options with you.

❤️ Our goal is a comfortable pet and a coat you can maintain at home!

Question for pet parents: Where does your dog get tangled the most? Tell us in the comments!
