We are so happy to have you as part of Chicago's Animal Care and Control Facebook community. We are a CACC Cat volunteer runpage using this platform to support CACC in the positive outcome of their cats and other small animals. Since you are here, we know you support the cause of homeless animals in Chicago. We encourage positive participation and hope you will help make this a constructi

ve forum focused on animal rescue and adoption. There are many ways to work with CACC to make a difference in the lives of animals including by volunteering at the shelter. By participating on this page, you are agreeing to the terms outlined below:
Please note, we reserve the right to delete comments and ban people from our page if we see posts containing the following:
• Profane or offensive language
• False and misleading information
• Off-topic (non-mission related) or inappropriate subject matter- Personal attacks and bullying
• Promotion of violence or illegal activities- Support for individuals or organizations that promote or are otherwise affiliated with animal cruelty and/or CACC hate groups
• Comments on personnel matters or legal cases involving particular individuals and animals
• Spam or commercial sales - misappropriation of Chicago Animal Care and Control logo, images, and copyrighted material
• A pattern of pledging on a cat and never following through with your donation
Bottom line: Please stay positive and focus your energy on helping the cats and critters. Comments not directly related to networking a cat for adoption or transfer may be deleted. We strongly encourage open discussion, but abusive language, bullying, or chronic harassment of Chicago Animal Care and Control employees, volunteers, and supporters is unacceptable. Although rescue work can be emotional, we have a zero-tolerance policy on drama. Please know that if you violate this policy, you will first be given a warning and if it happens again, you will be removed from our page for one week to cool off. After that, if there is a third violation of our policy, you will be banned from the page. Major violations will result in automatic banning without warning - no exceptions. If you have any questions or comments regarding our Facebook content, please message us or email us at [email protected]. Deleting negative comments and having to mediate any drama takes away from our mission of saving lives. Please don’t contribute to that kind of negativity. Thank you for all that you do. Please remember, those that do not abide by the code of conduct disappoint little kittens - don't disappoint little kittens!

Designations

Please note that each cat at CACC is set up with a pathway upon intake:

• Strays with ID - If the cat has a microchip or tag and the owner can be reached, CACC must hold the cat for seven days from the day the tag letter is sent, before making the cat available for adoption or rescue.
• Strays without ID - If no microchip or ID is found, a cat may be available for adoption or transfer immediately.
• Our stray hold policy is based on national Return-to-Owner data. Very few cats who go to shelters without an ID are reclaimed. We want to avoid unnecessary stress and find them their second chances as soon as possible.
• Other reasons for extended holds include abandoned in the home, owner taken to hospital, owner evicted, owner died, felony possession, prisoner property, Rabies observation (bite/scratch), or cruelty (for more details see MCC 7-12).
• As animals’ behavior and health status changes, their pathways may also change. We do our best to keep things up to date, but if you have any questions, just send us a DM. We try hard to respond within 24 hours, but please be patient as we are very busy.
• There are hundreds of dogs and cats (and often other animals like pot-bellied pigs!) who are waiting for their second chances and who would make wonderful pets at CACC, so if it doesn’t work out with the animal you had in mind, rest assured, we will likely be able to find you another one! Rescue/Foster/Adopt
Unless otherwise noted, most of the cats will be available for adoption to the public or transfer to a partner shelter or rescue group.
• If you are interested in adopting, go to Chicago.gov/CACC to learn more about the process.
• If you are interested in adopting or fostering a “rescue-only” cat featured on the page, please reach out to one of our approved Homeward Bound partners and apply to foster or foster to adopt.
• If you can't foster or adopt, please share & pledge for their care.
• A list of the groups that participate in the rescue program can be found here: Chicago.gov/CACC

IMPORTANT NOTE: Our goal is to provide as much information as we can based on the data collected upon intake and observations at the shelter. We can never guarantee the behavior or medical condition of any cat.

Momma Ocean is doing a great job taking care of her little photogenic Pearls even though they are in the busy hallway. Still, a shelter is no place for kittens to grow up and our hallway can be very stressful for cats. These guys need a foster home to land in.

Wave and Beach Ball came in with a lot of cats from the same location. They are still adjusting to shelter life and prefer to stick close to each other. They are too small for adoption but they are looking for a foster.

These two tiny hissy kittens are still learning that people aren't so scary. They're just starting to eat on their own and need a foster home where they can continue developing their eating skills while getting plenty of gentle socialization. They may greet the world with tiny hisses, but they're just scared lonely babies trying to figure things out.

5/28 - Cocoa was front of cage seeking treats. she allowed for a brief pet

Cocoa was surrendered to our shelter because she scratched a grandchild. She was hiding in her feral box when we first met but she did accept some treats I gave her. After I closed the kennel door she came out of her box and approached the front of the cage to check me out. She definitely made it clear she did not want me touching her but maybe we’ll get there with time.

URGENT - URI

MILOŚ - A313828
Male of Undetermined Age
Cage in Iso
Owner Surrender
Intake 05/30/2026
Video:

Milo is noted as having feline herpes and sneezing excessively. I'm unsure if this was actually tested for or just assumed. At any rate, he was not sneezing when I met him, but he did look sad huddled in the back of his kennel, with his big round head and squinting eyes. He did let me pet him but he didn't seem to notice.
