Many “high-maintenance” dogs are just mentally under-stimulated.

Dogs have working brains.
If we don’t give them a job, they will invent one.

Rearranging pillows.
Demand barking.
Following you everywhere like a tiny drill sergeants.

What people call “needy” is often just a smart dog with nothing to do.

A little mental work goes a long way.

If a daycare never turns a dog away, that’s worth paying attention to.

Not every dog enjoys group daycare.
Not every dog is comfortable in busy social settings.

Good programs know this.

Sometimes the safest answer is “ i’m sorry, but your dog isn’t a good fit for our daycare program.”

That’s not exclusion.
That’s responsible dog care.

At DoggieWorks, we offer individual dog walking to those dogs. They often do better with one-on-one attention from a dedicated walker! ☺️

Your dog isn’t trying to dominate you…
He’s trying to understand you.

Most “alpha” dog behavior is usually one of three things:

1, The rules keep changing and your dog is confused.
2. The dog found what works. (It’s usually THIS because bad behaviors are being reinforced)
3. The dog is stressed and trying to control the chaos.

Dogs don’t wake up plotting a coup.
They wake up asking, “What’s the plan today?”

Clear expectations calm dogs down.
Power struggles just make everybody tired. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Free-feeding is usually about our convenience.
Not your dog’s clarity.

After 25+ years working with dogs, here’s what I know:

Dogs who graze all day are often picky.
Less food motivated.
More likely to guard or negotiate meals. 🍖

Most dogs do better with defined mealtimes.

Food comes.
Food goes.
No debate.

A bowl that’s always full can create confusion.
Clear starts and stops create confidence.

You can’t out-supplement an imbalanced dog’s lifestyle.

Joint powder won’t fix movement.
Calming chews won’t fix chaos.
Probiotics won’t fix constant stress.

After 25+ years working with dogs, I still start in the same place.

Real food.
Balanced nutrition.
A plan that fits the individual dog.

Then we add supplements for support when they’re useful.

Supplements can support the plan.
They can’t be the plan.

The crash on the couch isn’t always contentment.
