The Chicago Eco House is a nonprofit agency with the mission of using sustainsbility to alleviate inner city poverty. We do this by taking over vacant lots and turning them into solar powered flower farms that creates jobs for at risk young people in the floral industry by selling the floral arrangements from the flowers that we grow.

🌍💐 History becomes more powerful when we take the time to understand it.

During our visit to Benin’s Door of No Return, one of our youth reflected on learning the stories behind the transatlantic slave trade and how that deeper understanding transformed a floral arrangement into something much more meaningful.

What began as flowers, colors, and design became a tribute to resilience, remembrance, and respect for those who endured unimaginable hardship. This experience reminds us that history is not just something we read about—it’s something we learn from, honor, and carry forward.
