Save the bulldogs! Keep them in air conditioning, it’s too dang hot for them and can be deadly!

That includes English bulldogs, French bulldogs, Pugs, Boston terriers, Boxers, Peckingnese, Shih Tzus, and any other dog with a short snout. All that soft palate and nasal tissue is smashed up into a short airway that doesn’t let them cool down, and it can swell up enough from the effort that it blocks their airway completely. Combine that with the fact that their tongues are usually too big for their mouths and their tracheas are usually too narrow for their bodies, making it an emergency in hot and humid weather.

Head out for a potty break, then come in and teach a new trick for 10-15 minutes for some mental exhaustion. The fall weather will be here some day.

Mosquitoes aren’t just a nuisance, they can create some pretty toxic conditions for dogs and cats. Heartworm is definitely in Chicago and is spread by mosquito bites, but preventatives given all year round help stop them from living in the bloodstream.

As a veterinarian, haven’t tried one yet that was particularly helpful without needing more correction than it’s worth. Won’t be stopping shorthand notes or exercising memory cells anytime soon.

Might be old fashioned, but tell that to the electricity bills around here. Turning into an old school vet or Sarah Connor apparently.

He’s all cat cussing and swears, and we love him! Just a slightly nervous boy setting healthy boundaries. Respect (and maybe gaba) to any scared kitties!

Nine lives in the afternoon. Cat vibes are immaculate so they like to chill on the exam tables and learn from the veterinarian too. Less fear in handling means that cats and dogs can relax in the veterinary clinic! Lots and lots of treats help 😊

The flora to our Fauna 🪴😍

Our vet clinic plants have been working hard filtering the air and making the vibes a little more homey.

Happy to report the air quality has greatly improved for dogs and cats (and humans). Dr. John has really convinced the Hoya to fill out in the cat waiting area.
