We’ll see you later, Augie! 👋 Today was Augie’s last day at Wagnolia before heading off to New Jersey for a summer internship. We’re so excited for him and can’t wait to have him back in August! ☀️

We’re also excited to welcome Ben to the team as our new receptionist! Be sure to say hi when you see him around ✨

Bringing a kitten home? 🐱✨ Here are our TOP 5 ways to care for your new friend:

1️⃣ Physical exercise + mental enrichment are essential for a healthy kitten! Offer scratching posts with different textures (cardboard, carpet, sisal rope, jute) to find their favorite. Rotate toys weekly, use puzzle feeders, and always direct play toward toys, not hands or feet. 🐾

2️⃣ Baby-proof your home. Kittens will get into everything. Protect electrical cords, keep string-like objects (yarn, hair ties, zip ties, floss, ribbon) out of reach, and make sure garbage is covered. Double check that all plants in your home are cat-safe before bringing a kitten home. 🌱

3️⃣ Proper nutrition during kittenhood helps support lifelong health. Feed a complete and balanced kitten diet, offer different food textures occasionally (pate, shredded, chunky, etc.), and prioritize moisture-rich foods when possible. Cats naturally get most of their hydration from food, so wet food + constant access to clean fresh water is ideal. Water fountains and multiple water bowls around the home can help encourage drinking. 🍽️

4️⃣ Preventive care is key! Stay up to date on core vaccines, including feline leukemia vaccines during the first year, and keep kittens on monthly parasite prevention year-round. Many kittens are exposed to parasites from their mothers before birth, which can affect gut health and development. 🩺

5️⃣ Start dental care habits early! Daily toothbrushing and regular dental cleanings/evaluations at the vet can help prevent periodontal disease and support long-term health as your kitten grows.
