⚠️ THINK BEFORE YOU ACT: STOP PET ABANDONMENT
Leaving a pet behind is not a safe option. It is dangerous, illegal, and can have tragic consequences.

Recently, an 8-lb wire terrier puppy—who still had his baby teeth—was tied to a light pole outside this hospital. Panicked and terrified, he chewed through his leash. He ran into the heavy traffic on Stony Island, ran back toward the hospital, and was struck by a fast-moving car. Despite the hospital manager running into traffic to rescue him, the puppy tragically passed away from his injuries.

Animals left alone do not know you are coming back. They panic, break free, and face immediate danger. Under Illinois law, animal abandonment is a crime.
