569 Skinner Bark Park is turning 12 and we’re throwing a Birthday Paw-ty! 🎉🐶

For 12 years, this little corner of the West Loop has been a place for dogs to run, humans to connect, and community to happen. And on Sunday, August 16, we’re celebrating the park that brings us all together!

Come by from 10 AM–1 PM for a morning of:
🐕 Fun + games
🧁 Treats + gift bags
🎁 Raffles + giveaways
💛 Local community sponsors
🐾 And, of course, lots and lots of sweet pups!

But this party has a purpose. 569 Skinner Bark Park is entirely donation-funded and cared for by a volunteer board of community members. Your ticket helps us continue maintaining and improving the park so our pups (and their people) can enjoy it for years to come!

Bring your dog. Bring your neighbors. Bring the person who knows your dog’s name but still doesn’t know yours. 😂

Happy from West Loop pup, Wanda!

Each Saturday, we feature one of our West Loop pups and tell you exactly how they’d take you out on a date.
Big personalities only.
Big cuteness guaranteed.

Wanda is sweet, smart, cuddly, and quietly iconic.

She’s not the type to overshare on a first date.
She prefers to observe, feel things out, and decide if you deserve access to her personality.

Once she does?
She’s unstoppable.

Wanda spends her weekdays working from home beside her dad, supervising meetings and keeping standards high.

So for date night, she’d like somewhere with a patio, full sun, and enough space to bask dramatically.

She may seem shy at first…
then suddenly she’s sprinting laps at the dog park and socializing like she owns the place.

Dinner is non-negotiable:

First course: sweet potatoes.
Second course: chicken and rice.
Dessert: a pup cup with peanut butter.

Get that order right and she may even share her favorite toy: a miniature Sully stuffy.

Huge honor.

End of the date:
You walk her to the door.
You shake her dad’s paw… erm… hand.

She’s traditional like that.

Rufus is the kind of date that reminds you good guys still exist.💜

Sweet from the start, easy to be around, and somehow makes you feel like you’ve known him forever.

But don’t mistake kind for boring.
Rufus has ideas on ideas for how to play.

He’s probably planned a super fun date with lots to do and absolutely zero awkward silences.

Rufus best dates involve lots of racing and chasing because who doesn’t love a friendly competition.

He’ll be effortlessly fast when he needs to be, weirdly agile for no reason, and somehow always one step ahead of you.

Rufus is also deeply loyal.
He’s got his people, his routines, and his best buds (shoutout George).

Honestly, if Rufus chooses to spend his Saturday with you, that means something.

Now one thing to know…if a toy or ball enters the picture and Rufus gets to it first…

It’s his now.

No debates.
No negotiations.
No chance of getting it back.

A gentle king with firm boundaries, that’s Rufus.

End of the date:
You had fun.
You felt cared for.
You lost every race.

And you’d happily do it again next Saturday with your gentle king! 👑

Each Saturday, we feature one of our West Loop pups and tell you exactly how they’d take you out on a date.

Yogurt is small… but make no mistake,
this is a big vibes, keeps-you-on-your-toes kind of date.

She’s booked you for an early morning slot (prime time, actually).
No reschedules. No sleeping in.

Location? The dog park.
Because Yogurt doesn’t do one-on-one dates…
she does audience participation.

Within 30 seconds, she’s introduced you to her entire crew…and then immediately runs away so you can all chase her.

This is her love language.

She will accept a treat or a toy —
but not for eating or playing.
No, no… those are props.
Used exclusively for the chase.

Now here’s where it gets interesting:
Yogurt has recently entered her ✨boundary-setting era✨

So mid-date, she might hit you with a very clear:
“Okay, that’s enough. Personal space.”

You’ll respect it. You’ll be impressed by it.
You’ll think, wow… she’s really grown.

And then…she’s baaaaaaack.
Zooming past you at full speed like nothing ever happened.

Emotional whiplash, but in a charming way.

Don’t ruin the date by slowing it down.
If you can keep up, you’re in.
If not… you’ll still try.

End of the date:
You’re dizzy from watching her.
But you can’t take your eyes off her.

She says she is going to wear her frozen yogurt costume for date 2.
You can hardly wait.

Meet this week’s featured pup, Lola 💅🐕

Lola’s taking you on a high-energy, no-notes, fully curated experience.
This is not a “what do you want to do?” kind of date. Lola already decide and told you what she wanted.

She’s got queen energy and a schedule to match.

First stop: a power walk around the park.
Second: social hour — aka Lola making her rounds, catching up, and being adored.
Third: something fun, something chaotic, something that requires movement at all times.

Lola doesn’t do low-key.
The energy? Continuous. Circular. High key (in the best way).

And because a queen needs fuel —
you’re looking at a five-course meal, dessert, and drinks.
Lola orders first. Lola orders confidently. You say “great choice” and keep up.

End of the night?
You’re probably exhausted.
She’s probably thriving.

And honestly… you’d go out with her again and again.

Happy Weekend! Meet Fig, your next featured west loop pup!

Fig is beyond playful and always ready for a good time! He could take you out on an all night long date but his mom says he’s got a curfew. Probably will bring a chaperone too. (Fig’s barely a teenager.)

Since Fig hasn’t found passions beyond play, his dates are solely funded by an allowance from mom….so be prepared to go Dutch.

A date with Fig would truly have you smiling all night long because he’s just so nice to everyone — even if he’d give you up for a hot dog. 🌭

It’s 68 degrees in Chicago and West Loop pup Butter says it’s the perfect day for a date. 🐾💅🏽

As our featured pup, Butter says forget about that pickleball bro, he’s the kind of date that will take you to the all-you-can-eat-buffet AND he’ll pay too.

That is, as long as he doesn’t get distracted by his friends who he also invited on your date.

(Butter hasn’t met a stranger. Just friends he doesn’t know yet…)

All is good though if you like PDA. Butter is always ready to climb in your lap for a good snuggle 🥰
