For those of you who remember, the Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation took over the care for a stray dog diagnosed with hydrocephalus, who we named Bobble. After several weeks of neurology consults and even a complicated surgery, unfortunately Bobble’s neurological condition worsened and he ultimately lost his long battle with his congenital disease. The Garrido’s and the amazing staff at MedVet did everything they could to try and offer him a good quality life, and we wanted to sincerely thank them for their efforts and the love they showed a dog that they had no obligation to help.
Last week, The Garrido’s brought another rescue dog, Lily, to Mayfair for an exam with Dr. Sam. Lily had just gone under a spay surgery for pyometra through CACC. During her exam, Dr. Sam could tell that something was not right. First-line diagnostics suggested that Lily had become septic and it was a great recognition by Dr Sam! Lily was referred to Premier for hospitalization. The amazing staff at Premier took Lily to surgery for a septic abdomen and started her on supportive care. Through their amazing work, they were able to recover Lily and saw dramatic improvement over the past few days!
We wanted to take this time to thank MedVet Chicago and Premier Veterinary Group of Chicago for always being there for our pets that require around-the-clock care or complicated emergency surgeries.
We also wanted to thank the Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation for being a resource to these dogs that have no one to care for them. Please consider contributing to one of the Garrido’s fundraisers.
