Helping Chi build confidence through place! 🌩️🐾

Chi struggles with separation anxiety from his owners and becomes anxious when storms roll in. We’re utilizing the place command to teach him how to settle and remain calm in his own space, even when his owners aren’t right beside him or when something stressful is happening around him.

Here, we’re recreating a storm in the background while he learns to settle, stay calm, and build confidence in his own space. 🤍

Confidence comes from helping a dog shift their mindset, build trust, and learn to look to their owner for guidance.

Henry came to us as a fearful rescue pup who would react to other dogs on walks because he was scared, overwhelmed, and didn’t yet know there was another way to respond.

We worked on teaching him what to do instead:

Create distance
Stop
Sit
Check in
Mark calm behaviors with praise and rewards

This helped shift Henry’s mindset to understanding that seeing another dog or any distraction for that matter, can mean something positive

By creating a strong foundation and rewarding the behaviors we wanted to see, Henry learned that he didn’t have to respond out of fear. Instead, he learned to slow down, check in, and confidently move through those moments. Yay, Henry! 🐾😃

Reliable recall is one of the most important skills you can teach your dog.

Recall isn’t just about getting your dog to come back- it’s about creating clear communication, building trust, and giving your dog more freedom while keeping them safe.

Whether it’s calling your dog away from a distraction, getting them back inside, or having peace of mind on a hike, at the beach, in the park, or in an open space, a strong recall can be a true game changer.

A few things that help build a strong recall:
✅ Consistency
✅ Clear communication
✅ Making coming to you fun, encouraging, and rewarding
✅ Starting with fewer distractions and gradually adding more

With a baby sister arriving soon, one of our training goals has been teaching Ruby how to calmly walk next to the stroller.

Before training, Ruby’s walks often involved stopping abruptly or pulling on the leash. Now, with consistency, reinforcement, and clear communication, she’s walking beautifully by her mom’s side. 🐾

These are the real life skills that make everyday life easier and help set both dogs and families up for success when big changes are on the horizon. ✨
