Arthritic knees 🐶🦴🔥 do not just lose cartilage. They also lose hyaluronic acid, the joint’s natural “gel”💧 that helps cushion and lubricate movement.

When that gel starts to break down, joints can become drier, rougher, and more irritated. That means more friction🔥, more stiffness, more inflammation, and more pain with every step, jump, and climb.

That is one reason Dr. Karen Becker included hyaluronic acid in Mobility Matrix™, alongside UC-II® undenatured collagen, eggshell membrane collagen, glucosamine sulfate, MSM, creatine monohydrate, and other science-backed ingredients designed to support not just cartilage, but the entire musculoskeletal system.

Because mobility is not just about “joint support.” It is about helping protect the cushioning, lubrication, muscle power, connective tissue, and comfort pets need to keep moving well.

If your dog is slowing down on stairs, hesitating to jump, struggling to get up, or just not moving like they used to, do not ignore it.

THE GREAT CARB DEBATE IN A PET'S DIET: SCIENTIFIC PERSPECTIVE

HIGHLIGHTS OF ARTICLE BY DR. KAREN BECKER, WORLD-RENOWNED HOLISTIC INTEGRATED VETERINARIAN & OWNER OF Proactive Paws (full article link below)

* Dogs and cats can digest carbohydrates, but research suggests they naturally regulate toward diets rich in animal protein and fat, with relatively low starch intake*
* Studies of wild wolves, feral cats, and self-selecting domestic pets consistently show nutrient patterns centered on prey-based nutrition rather than carbohydrate-heavy diets
* When carbohydrate intake decreases, healthy fat intake naturally increases, reflecting the ancestral feeding patterns of carnivorous species
* Not all carbohydrates are created equal – fermentable fibers, berries, mushrooms, seaweeds, and other whole-food plant ingredients support the microbiome very differently than refined starches
* The real question isn't whether pets can eat carbohydrates, but how much starch is biologically appropriate and which carbohydrate-containing foods best support long-term metabolic and gut health.

Explore what science says about carbohydrates in pet diets. Learn how dogs and cats process carbs, ideal starch levels, and why fat and protein matter.

We have followed this disgusting legal story for 3 years. Local man charged on 10 felony counts of 8 week old kittens tortured and deaths. A history of this since he was 8 years old (as told to his girlfriend). The judge offered a plea deal reducing to 1 count with his served home confinement counting towards his sentence.

Truly reprehensible and a failure of the judicial system.

Understanding a cat's eyesight: how do they see in dimer light levels and which category benefits from a light on at night.

Do cats need a night light? We asked a veterinary ophthalmologist if leaving lights on for cats helps or harms their sleep.

New Canine Food Allergy Study

🐶 New Food Allergy Study

Researchers found that most food-allergic dogs required moderate-to-large exposures before symptoms appeared. On average, flare-ups didn’t show up until about 4 days after eating the offending ingredient.

Another important finding was that food reactions were often delayed, with symptoms appearing several days after exposure. Most dogs also did not react to tiny trace amounts of allergenic protein. Instead, the majority required larger exposures before clinical signs developed.

This study highlights why dietary diversity matters. Feeding only one food for an animal’s entire life is a recommendation often promoted by pet food companies to build brand loyalty, not by many nutrition-focused veterinarians and researchers.

That’s one reason I encourage healthy dogs to eat a variety of proteins and foods throughout life instead of the same protein or brand year after year. It helps maintain dietary flexibility and may support a more diverse gut microbiome.

If your animal can only tolerate one protein, it’s worth exploring why.
