Dogs learn through association. If you spend time building. It’s a beautiful thing once it’s complete.

Training the dog is the easy part. Training every human in the house to enforce the same rules? That’s the actual job.

If your dog is only responding to one person in the house, that’s not an obedience issue, you have created a loophole.

Get your kids in on it too! Not only to play — but to respect/hold boundaries, and follow through.

Which one will it be?

A dramatic backstory feels good to tell. It doesn’t help the dog.

It makes you feel for the dog, it makes YOU the rescuer.
But that story is about how the dog’s behavior makes you feel. It’s not about what the dog actually needs.

The dog doesn’t need a narrative. It needs a handler who can read what’s in front of them right now and give it direction.

That’s the part I get fulfillment from — not the story, the work, to help them move forward.
