✨Celebrating Vet Tech Week! ✨🩺🐾
This week we kick off celebrating our incredible Veterinary Technicians and Assistants —and all the hats they wear so well…

Caregiver.
Educator.
Advocate.
Problem-solver.
Therapist.
Kennel attendant.
Lab Technician.
Phlebotomist.
Anesthesia Nurse.
Fear-free champion (just to name a few)👏👏👏

This work is deeply rewarding, meaningful, and oh so very important - not only to the families we serve but to each and every one of us. But beyond the puppy snuggles, let’s not overlook the unique challenges our Veterinary Technicians and Assistants help us handle with patience and grace- every. single. day. 🙏👊❤️

For instance-
do you deal with the saddest (cutest) doodle having diarrhea all over the floor you just mopped from the previous (two) episodes of diarrhea?

- How do you educate a client about home dental care, check for fleas, and demonstrate how to give eye medication to a pet who thinks you’re it’s next lunch?

- How can you console someone letting go of their longest relationship but be excited for that new kitten appointment right after?

(And those were just the first 3 appointments from last Saturday! 😳🤪😭)

This work gives you ALLLL the feels- and it calls for a dedicated and resilient team that not only has a huge heart to serve but can also handle the long hours, big emotions, and countless physical and emotional demands- this is truly a labor of love!!! 🥰🐶🐱

✨THANK YOU✨to our Team (and all the phenomenal techs and assistants out there!!! 👏👏👏) that help us do this incredibly meaningful work- and much gratitude to the 6,500+ families that have entrusted us with the care of your best friends over the years!!! ❤️

✨Celebrating the Animals and Flash back to last years’ Blessings Procopius 🐾🙏🥰

This weekend, we take a moment to celebrate our furry, feathered, and scaled companions! 🤗 The Blessing of the Animals is a beautiful tradition held around the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and ecology. While we couldn’t make the festivities this year, we always give thanks for the privilege of having our beloved companions and commit to caring for them with the same kindness and unconditional love they show us every single day! 🙌❤️🐱🐶
Hope you’re all celebrating your pets this weekend! ❤️🐕🐈✨

22 years young and still going strong! 🐱🐾✨

Meet one of our favorite patients, Minou, one of our acupuncture regulars! When she’s not chasing birds on the beach she’s being the best emotional support and keeping our team inspired! 🥰🙌

Acupuncture is a powerful, non-invasive tool we use here at Kindred Veterinary to help our senior pets thrive. It’s not just about pain management—it’s about enhancing their quality of life.

The benefits of acupuncture include:
✨ Pain Relief: Helps decrease inflammation and supports the body’s natural healing process
✨ Improved Mobility: Encourages better movement by improving circulation and comfort
✨ Better Quality of Life: Helps our older companions feel more like themselves again.

Whether it’s chronic aches or just keeping them feeling their best, we’re here to support your pet’s journey at every age.👊😌

Have questions about how acupuncture could benefit your senior pet? Drop them below or schedule an appointment! 🐶🐱💛

🕷️🕷️🕷️ They're creepy, they're crawly, and they can carry diseases! 🕷️🕷️🕷️

Fleas, ticks, and heartworms can affect both dogs and cats, spreading to humans as well. Fleas can quickly infest your home and may cause severe itching or spread tapeworms. Ticks are becoming more common throughout the Midwest and can transmit diseases like Lyme disease. Heartworm disease is spread by mosquitoes and can lead to serious heart and lung damage if left untreated.

Year-round parasite prevention is one of the easiest ways to keep your pet healthy and protected. Our team can help you choose the right veterinarian-recommended preventive for your pet's age, lifestyle, and needs. Stop by the clinic or give us a call to learn more!

Save the Hot Dogs for the Grill- Know the Signs of Heat Stress in your Pet! 🥵☀️🐶

♨️ What is Heat Stress?
Heat stress occurs when your furry friend’s body temperature rises beyond their cooling capabilities. It can happen during hot weather, intense exercise, or if they’re stuck in a hot car. If ignored, it can lead to heat stroke and collapse! 🚑❗️

✅ Prevention Tips:
🌅 Keep longer walks during cooler times
💧 Always provide shade and fresh water
🐶 Check if your pet is at risk and schedule their summer vet checkup- especially for our short-nosed and overweight pets!

✅ Before heading out, check if your hand can comfortably touch the pavement for 5 seconds, if it’s too hot for you, then keep the potty break under 5 minutes

✅ Signs to Watch For:
- Excessive Panting
- Restlessness or Weakness/Fatigue
- Red or Pale Gums
- Muscle Tremors

✅ What to do if you’re pet’s getting over-heated:
👉 Stop all activities and offer water to drink if they’re alert
👉 Move to a shaded, cool area
👉 Wet them down with room temperature or cool (not cold) water
👉 Place them in front of a fan
👉 Seek veterinary care ASAP if you have any concerns —heat stress can escalate to heat stroke can be life threatening! 🥵

Wishing you all a safe and cool summer! 😎
