A little dog safety PSA after something I saw today:

If thereā€™s a reasonable chance your dog is going to pull hard, lunge, panic, plant themselves, or fight you on the leash, please consider walking them on a well-fitted harness rather than attaching the leash to a flat collar.

This isnā€™t me saying that every dog wearing a collar is in danger. A dog calmly walking on a loose leash is a very different situation.

But when a dog is pulling with their full body weight against a collar, all of that force is being applied to their neck. Thereā€™s also the risk of a frightened or determined dog backing out of a collar altogether.

A properly fitted harness distributes that force across a much larger area of the body and gives you a safer point of control if things go in an unexpected direction (literally and figuratively).

Collars are great for ID tags and a little extra flair šŸ’… but they donā€™t always need to be the thing keeping your dog attached to you.

Construction updates continue!

The park walls are almost completely framed out.
Structural steel is in. HVAC and plumbing are almost done.
Electrical is now in full swing and weā€™re starting to put up drywall in preparation for the final details.

Up next: millwork, flooring, and lighting

Stay tuned for an announcement about another open house! šŸ

ā€œEerieā€, ā€œunsettlingā€, and ā€œdeeply disturbingā€ and nowhere close to how Iā€™d describe working at Zoomies.

In fact, Iā€™d call Zoomies ā€œexcitingā€, ā€œrewardingā€, and ā€œvery serious about having good, clean funā€

If you have experience working as a doggy daycare attendant and want to be a part on the team for the coolest new spot in Chicago, then apply for a position today! Link in our bio.
