💔 A Plea for Koa & Alani 💔
Sometimes rescue is filled with joyful moments—watching kittens discover toys, race through the house, and curl up in your lap after a long day of play.
Right now, that isn't the story for Koa and Alani.
These sweet sibling kittens came into our rescue already fighting for their lives. Their tiny eyes were caked shut from infection, and they were struggling with severe upper respiratory infections after being born outside with little chance of receiving the care they desperately needed.
With veterinary treatment, medications, and lots of love from their foster mom, we were hopeful they were turning a corner.
But recently, Koa and Alani began sleeping more and more. The playful kittens who once chased each other around the room no longer have the energy to run, jump, or explore. Their foster mom says the silence is heartbreaking. She misses seeing them wrestle, play, and enjoy being kittens.
A return visit to the veterinarian confirmed our fears—both babies are running fevers again.
They are now receiving three different medications, along with supportive care, hydration, and around-the-clock monitoring. We are doing everything possible to help them recover and give them the healthy, happy future they deserve. They will need to be rechecked by the veterinarian again in two weeks, and the medical expenses continue to grow.
Despite everything they have endured, Koa and Alani remain sweet, trusting little souls. They didn't choose to be born outside. They didn't choose to start life sick and struggling. But they are fighting, and we are fighting right alongside them.
