K9s 4 Mobility K9s 4 Mobility is dedicated to enriching the lives of others through the training, placement and support of Assistance Dog Partnerships.

Puppy rasier/trainers start each puppy off at 8 - 11 weeks of age until around the age of 1 year. They are responsible for house training & maners, socialization, obedience and the foundation skill tasks necessary for Assistance Dogs.

Friday Fido Tip is working a dog through a fear of large trucks. You will notice that we are using a loose leash on the dog, not focussing on her heeling but just keep a relaxed body. Scout is showing interest in the truck by sniffing it and getting close to without showing any fear. Rewards were being offerred but she was not taking any during this time. When the truck moved, we backed up to watch from a safe distance where she sat beside a confident dog. She did some shaking but was able to hold her position.

Puppy in training Raven (born -25-26) is having a good time between his two co-raiser's homes. Judge Rodgers takes him to the courthouse once a week to visit staff and attends puppy class with him. Raven has also attended some board meetings with her and goes to the bowling alley with her husband, Kevin and son Jack.
While with Michelle, Raven gets lots of attention at the training facility from the other dogs in training. He has been to several medical appointments with Michelle or Justine, out shopping and of course the Cheyenne Dog Food Company. He still sleeps in his crate overnight but takes any chance he gets to nap on the bed!

Guide dog in training Scout working with trainer Justine while Michelle, who had Guide dog in training Compass along, attempted to get some good videos. Scout is doing great finding curbs, stairs, alleys, avoiding obstacles, safely crossing streets, and ignoring daily distractions. She is still unsure about large loud trucks but showing some improvement. Compass is being introduced to curbs while following along.

Fall in love with K9s 4 Mobility fun family fall event was so much fun! We had five chili cooking teams with board member, Cade Campbell winning the people's choice award. The puppies and dogs in training enjoyed all the attention and pets from everyone attending.

Congratulations to Heather & Colter, K9s 4 Mobility Assistance Dog Team #68 in Wisconsin!!! Colter is the third Service dog for Heather and is very different from her previous two dogs, but she is enjoying his confidence and work ethic.
Colter was donated by Tyler Brand, MN, and sponsored by Sue Mecca, WY. He was lovingly raised by co puppy raisers; the Woerner and Zumo families.
Thank you to everyone that made Colter's training and placement possible. Each and every donation made to K9s 4 Mobility goes towards producing Assistance Dogs that increase a person's independence.

Friday Fido Tip is Service dog Colter wearing a Stitch costume. Most dogs can come to tolerate having costumes put on them but don't necessarily love it. We begin by putting the costume on while providing yummy treats. Only leave the costume on for a few minutes and each training session you can increase the duration. Your dog may resist walking while wearing the costume so provide treats to bait them to move and make it fun!
