Veterinary medicine is about so much more than treating animals. It's about the relationships we build along the way.

Our veterinary technicians are truly the heart of Broadmoor East. They're the familiar faces that help nervous patients feel safe, the reassuring voices that comfort worried pet owners, and the teammates who lift each other up through long days, difficult cases, and everything in between.

The bonds they form with our patients, our clients, and one another are what make our hospital such a special place.

And speaking of those bonds… today's Twinning Day gave our team a chance to show off just how connected they are!

On any given day, our veterinary technicians may be:

🐾 Drawing blood and running laboratory tests
🐾 Taking X-rays
🐾 Monitoring anesthesia
🐾 Assisting with surgery and dentistry
🐾 Placing IV catheters
🐾 Administering medications and treatments
🐾 Caring for hospitalized patients

It’s Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week!

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible veterinary technicians who help make compassionate care possible every single day at Broadmoor East.

Our technicians wear more hats than we could possibly fit into one post. They are nurses, phlebotomists, anesthetists, dental assistants, lab technicians, patient advocates, educators, comfort-givers, problem-solvers, and sometimes professional treat dispensers.

They care for our patients when they’re sick, comfort them when they’re scared, celebrate with us when they get better, and support our doctors and clients through some of the hardest days of pet ownership.

All week long, we’ll be giving you a closer look at the people behind the scrubs and the important work they do.

We've been informed that beginning early next week, WESTBOUND Pershing Blvd between Highway 30 and College will be CLOSED as road construction continues.

🚗 HOW TO GET TO BROADMOOR EAST:

✅ You must approach our building traveling EAST on Pershing. (toward Highway 30).

➡️ From College, turn EAST onto Pershing to reach our parking lots.

Please refer to the map below for a visual guide, and allow yourself some extra travel time for appointments. Traffic delays and limited parking may continue as construction progresses.

We know navigating road construction can be frustrating, and we sincerely appreciate everyone's patience and flexibility! We're just as eager as you are to see Pershing Blvd. get the improvements it desperately needs. A little inconvenience now for a much smoother ride later!

🚧 CONSTRUCTION HEADS-UP! 🚧

Pershing Blvd. is finally getting some much-needed love! We’re happy to see improvements being made to the road, but in the meantime, construction is making getting to Broadmoor East a little more interesting than usual. 🐾

As the project moves forward, lane closures and access to our parking lots may change from day to day. Parking may also be more limited than usual.

If you have an appointment with us, we recommend:
🐾 Allowing a little extra travel time
🐾 Watching for changing lane closures and construction signs
🐾 Being prepared for limited parking or a slightly different route into our lot

We are OPEN and here for you! We just want everyone to know what to expect before heading our way.

We appreciate your patience with us, the construction crews, and your fellow drivers while Pershing gets the improvements it desperately deserves. We’ll do our best to keep everyone updated as access changes.

🎉 30 YEARS OF SUMMER! 🎉

Today, we get to celebrate an incredible milestone: Summer’s 30th anniversary with Broadmoor East! ❤️🐾

Three decades ago, Summer began her career with Broadmoor East working in our boarding facility. From there, she trained to become a veterinary technician and continued to grow into the leader, manager, mentor, and invaluable member of our team that she is today.

Over the last 30 years, Summer has cared for more patients and helped more families than we could ever begin to count. She is one of the hardest-working people you will ever meet, and the care she gives extends far beyond the animals who come through our doors. She genuinely cares about the people she works alongside, and she is always willing to step in, help out, teach, problem-solve, or do whatever needs to be done.

And somehow, even after giving so much of herself to Broadmoor East, Summer still finds time to give back to the Cheyenne community through her volunteer work with the Cheyenne Frontier Days Mounted Marshals. 🤠

Thirty years with one organization is something truly special. Summer has been part of Broadmoor East through countless changes, challenges, celebrations, patients, coworkers, and memories. She has helped shape this clinic into what it is today, and we are incredibly fortunate that she chose to build her career here.

Summer, thank you for 30 years of hard work, loyalty, leadership, compassion, and dedication. Broadmoor East simply would not be the same without you.

Our clinic will be closed on Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day.

We know that pet emergencies don’t always take the holiday off, so our on-call emergency veterinary services will remain available during the closure. If you need us, simply call 307-634-2912 for assistance.

Did you know that one of the most common surgeries we perform is also one of the best investments you can make in your dog's long-term health?

For most dogs, a routine spay costs approximately $300–$600.

Now compare that to one of the most common reproductive emergencies we see in intact female dogs:

Pyometra (a life-threatening uterine infection): $1,500–$2,500+

While cost is certainly an important consideration, the biggest difference isn't the price. It's the urgency. A planned spay is performed when your pet is healthy and stable. Pyometra is a life-threatening emergency that often requires immediate surgery, intensive monitoring, hospitalization, and additional medical care.

Spaying your dog before problems develop can help:
• Prevent pyometra, a potentially fatal uterine infection
• Eliminate the risk of uterine cancer
• Reduce the risk of mammary (breast) cancer when performed early in life
• Prevent unplanned pregnancies
