A credential is only as strong as the organization behind it.

CCPDT is the only dog training credentialing organization with certification programs accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) — the same independent body that accredits certifications for nurses, athletic trainers, and other established professions.

What does that mean in plain terms? Our exams aren't a certificate for completing a course. They're independently developed, validated against a national standard, and reviewed by a third party — the same rigor other professions are held to.

Every exam, policy, and decision we make is built on five values: integrity, education, excellence, scientific principles, and transparency.

When a trainer earns a CCPDT credential, that's what stands behind it.

I think about this quote a lot. I think it's true for kids and animals.

"Fear is so bad for animals. I think it is worse than pain."
-Temple Grandin

If you can do something right now for your dog or other pet do this -
Minimize fear.
Learn what fear looks like in your dog.
Don't blow it off with, "oh, he's fine" or "she'll get used to it."

Work with your vet. Work with a certified trainer who respects animals experiencing fear, takes it seriously and knows how to minimize it.
Run from trainers that use fear as their training methodology, no matter what they call it.
