Sugarwood Farms

Sugarwood Farms Sugarwood Farms Lovely private stables owned by Debbie and Bill Williams, where a few very special horses are lovingly cared for.

Our stable has beautiful Loudon Stalls, automatic Nelson watering systems, heated in winter months, and cool- fly free summer care. The heated stable keeps horses and their owners and caregivers freer to spend time together without discomfort. The fly free stable makes for calm and protected summer days and nights. We have a beautiful arena with special rubber sand footing, perfectly groomed. Ma

rvelous mirrors for dressage practice and fun. There are 40 acres of trails to explore between Sugarwood Acres and Logan College next door making for enjoyable riding as well as training. We sponsor private events geared for dressage both at the farm as well as with local and national dressage events. We support the dressage sport in every way we can and we do our best to provide referrals to those seeking information about dressage, lessons, training, or buying and selling horses.

Momentum continues to build for the SAFE Act.

We applaud Senator McCormick and Representative Analilia for joining the growing bipartisan effort to end the horse slaughter pipeline once and for all.

Alongside your voices, letters, and calls, the Wild Beauty Foundation and our coalition partners traveled to Washington, D.C. during Lost Horses fly-ins to meet with Members of Congress and their staff, advocating for and advancing these critical protections.

Every new champion in Congress represents another voice standing against the shipment of tens of thousands of American horses across our borders each year, into the darkness of a broken system that has operated for far too long.

Their support for the stand-alone SAFE Act also sends an important message as anti-slaughter language advances through the surface transportation reauthorization process. As the legislation we have fought for moves toward consideration on the House floor, it is essential that these protections remain intact.

This is an essential moment to keep the pressure on. Please make the call, send a letter in moments through losthorses.org, share this message, and tag your favorite animal-loving celebrities, media outlets, and lawmakers.

Thank you for being part of this journey, and for standing with The Lost Horses.

People have asked me over the years about the aloneness. Not unkindly, usually. With the specific concern that people bring to a life that does not match the shape they were taught a life should have. I have never found the question offensive. I have found it, over time, easier to answer. The horses were not a substitute for something I could not find. The horses were not a place I hid from the difficulty of human relationship. The horses were the primary thing and the shape of the life grew around the primary thing the way a barn grows around the horses inside it, designed for what is actually there. Twenty years of this property. Twelve horses over those years, different ones at different times, always some number between four and eight, always the morning feeding at five-fifteen, always the barn at evening when the day needed a place to end correctly. I have had relationships that ended partly because of the horses and I am at peace with those endings because the thing they ended on was real and mine and not a mistake. I am at peace with the life I have built the way you are at peace with something you built by hand, knowing every decision that went into it, having made those decisions with your eyes open, standing inside the result every morning and finding it exactly what you intended. Twenty years. Still here. Still choosing it. Still the same five-fifteen. 🐴
