We’re getting excited for Colic: Know the Signs, Know the Options - A Client Education Night & Open House!

Throughout the evening, we’ll have two lecture-style presentations, each offered twice so you can catch both while still having plenty of time to explore our interactive educational tables and open house.

Farm Management of Colic
Dr. Catherine Cote
🕠 5:30 PM & 6:30 PM

Dr. Cote will walk through evaluating and managing colic on the farm, including what your veterinarian is looking for and when referral to the hospital may be recommended.

🏥 Hospital Management of Colic
Drs. Alyson Booth & Charlene Noll
🕕 6:00 PM & 7:00 PM

Drs. Booth and Noll will take you inside hospital colic care, discussing evaluation, medical management, surgical options, and what goes into making treatment decisions.

Between presentations, be sure to visit our interactive educational tables, where other members of the Woodside veterinary team will be available to demonstrate, answer questions, and help you learn even more about colic care.

🌮 And come hungry! Plan to grab dinner with us from Shakedown Eats, who will have their food truck on site for the evening. Grab some food, visit the educational tables, tour the hospital, and catch both presentations! Food is generously sponsored by Boehlringer Ingelheim and Zoetis!

🎟️ Registration is already halfway full! If you’re planning to attend, please sign up soon so we can plan for you. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/colic-know-the-signs-know-the-options-tickets-2000256618391?aff=oddtdtcreator

We can’t wait to welcome you to Woodside for an evening of great food, hands-on learning, and everything you need to know about colic! 🐴💚

Air quality is expected to be poor over the next few days due to smoke from Canadian wildfires.

We recommend not riding or exercising horses while smoke is present, especially horses with asthma or other respiratory concerns. The heat also increases the risk, so it is best to avoid unnecessary exertion. When in doubt, skip the ride.

On June 20, the Equine Disease Communications Center (EDCC) announced that a University Clinician and the State Veterinarian confirmed an Equine Herpesvirus (EHV-1) Neurologic case in Powhatan County, Virginia. The private facility is now under official quarantine.

The mare presented with clinical signs of vestibular disease (affecting balance and spatial orientation), including head tilt and circling to the left. Diagnostics returned negative for EPM but positive for EHV-1. Two other horses have been exposed but are not showing clinical signs. The mare is under treatment and improving.
