Penny and Conrad have both done board and train programs with me. This is what we do when they stay with me while their family is away. Getting dogs off leash isn’t hard and it’s probably the most important thing you could give your dog. Like, this could be us, but you gotta call me!

Tootsie has left the building! Officially home with mom now. She came to me with zero listening skills and is leaving me as very cooperative companion. She wouldn’t even sit on command, let alone hold a sit, let alone walk nicely on her leash through a busy store. Easily one of my favorite dogs I’ve ever worked with. +1 for team German Shepherds.

Tootsie would constantly embarrass her mom inside stores. She would non-stop pull on the leash, wouldn’t listen to ANY commands and god forbid there was a dog in the store and she would lose her mind. Hard to believe this is the same dog sometimes.

How we started vs. where we are now. I’ve already posted the first half of this video about 2 weeks ago. I stitched it with today’s video. Compliance without using treats is incredibly important. The way I do it doesn’t sacrifice the dog’s attitude.

Our dogs suck at listening when they’re over aroused or super excited. That’s where structured play can really help us. Teaching your dog to listen with no distractions is borderline a waste of time.

There’s no substitute for being off leash in open areas. Dogs NEED it.
