🐾 WHAT CAN A DOG OR CAT TEACH A CHILD? ❤️

More than you might think.

A pet can teach a child responsibility by remembering that someone depends on them for food, water, exercise, and care.

They can teach patience because trust, training, and relationships take time.

They can teach compassion by learning to recognize the needs and feelings of another living being.

They can teach commitment because pets aren't just there when it's convenient. They're family every single day.

And maybe most importantly, they can teach friendship and unconditional love. 🐶🐱

For a child, helping care for a pet can mean growing up with a best friend beside them and learning some pretty important life lessons along the way.

Come to Chester County Animal Control while adoption fees are reduced and meet the dogs and cats waiting for a family of their own! ❤️

You may come looking for a pet for your child…but you might leave with a teacher, a best friend, and a whole lot of memories. 🐾

🐾 THIS FRIDAY, WE’RE PUTTING OUR BLACK DOGS IN THE SPOTLIGHT! 🖤

There’s actually a name for the concern that black dogs may be overlooked in shelters: “Black Dog Syndrome.” Research on whether coat color alone causes this is mixed, so we don’t want to repeat it as a hard fact. One shelter study found black dogs were 23.8% less likely to be adopted than partially black or non-black dogs. But what we do know is that appearance can play a role in how people choose shelter pets. But these babies are SO much more than the color of their fur. 🖤

This Friday, help us get our black dogs SEEN, SHARED, and HOME! 🐾 Adoptions are just $30!

Come meet them at Chester County Animal Control. Your new best friend might be waiting behind one of these faces.

Can’t adopt? PLEASE SHARE! One share could be all it takes for the right person to finally see them. 🐾

💘 WHAT IF SHELTER DOGS HAD DATING PROFILES? 🐾

They’re single. They’re adorable. And apparently, they’ve been waiting WAY too long for someone to swipe right.

So we asked ourselves… what would our dogs put on their dating profiles if they were in charge?

Fair warning: some are looking for true love. ❤️
Some are just here for the snacks. 🦴
And a few may have questionable relationship habits. 🚩😂

🎥 **WAIT… IS THAT DOLLY?!** 🐾✨

If you caught the recent **Queen City News** appearance for the Ties & Tails Gala, you may have spotted a familiar Chester County face on stage **our girl Dolly!** ❤️

Dolly got to join the Queen City News crew and staff from the Humane Society of Charlotte, one of our valued rescue partners, as they shared more about their upcoming Ties & Tails Gala on October 17th!

Partnerships like this mean so much to us. Rescue partners don't just help individual animals, they help create space, open doors, and give shelter pets opportunities beyond our walls. And sometimes, one of our own gets to step into the spotlight and help represent shelter dogs everywhere. 🐶✨

❤️ A huge thank you to the Humane Society of Charlotte for being such a wonderful rescue partner and for giving Dolly the chance to tag along for this special appearance! We are incredibly grateful for the work you do and for the opportunities you help create for shelter animals like ours.

🎬 Watch Dolly’s Queen City News appearance now!

She may have gone to help promote a great cause… but we think she was pretty comfortable in the spotlight! 🐾❤️

🐾❤️ DATE IDEA: SHELTER EDITION ❤️🐾

Dinner and a movie? Been there.

How about spending your date giving a little love to an animal who needs it most?

We have a sweet volunteer couple who chooses to spend some of their time together right here at the shelter, sitting with, holding, loving on, and simply being present with some of our less-social animals.

For an animal who is nervous, unsure, or still learning that people can be kind, that quiet one-on-one time can mean SO much.

No fancy reservations.
No expensive plans.
Just two people, a shelter animal, and a little bit of love. ❤️
And we have to say… this might be one of our favorite date ideas yet. 🐾
