Today, we had to say goodbye to a huge part of our family.
Baylee was with us for 16 1/2 years. Over her lifetime with us, she became an AKC Master Hunter, a NAVHDA Natural Ability recipient, an AKC Diving Dog Junior Title and a NSTRA Amateur Champion a wild bird hunter and most of all a best friend to Ken and I.
She also graced us with 4 litters of pups with a grand total of 46 little ones.
Baylee was our “trainer”. She helped break all our pups we kept. And Baylee always loved to swim. Sometimes I thought she’d rather jump in that pond than eat!!
She went hunting with the other dogs Thursday around the farm. Her last run. Walking around the normal route loop koi on our farm, she wasn’t fast enough to get to the birds first but she did back 3 times. She LOVED to back! I’ve never had a dog that LOVED to back like she did!
I always said when that fire went out of her eyes, I would hate it, but I’d let her go. The fire never left her eyes but it did leave her body. And it was not fair to her to try and live like that. She could no longer stand and was completely down in her rear end.
I’ve sat and held her and cried over her and asked why she can’t live forever. Knowing that is impossible, we made that decision to let her go.
Please keep us in your prayers. This is like losing our child, since we have none of our own. We both hurt like hell but know that the Rainbow Bridge needs her there now. She’s going to see R***r and Scout (her momma and daddy) and all her offspring who have gone on before her.
WINDCHIME’S JOYKEN BAYLEE, we love you baby girl. you are our CHAMPION. No other can take your place.
