Merry Christmas Eve. It’s hard to believe that 7 years has just passed. We at Canine Corner (-‘f I mean WE- all four of us are so thankful for our amazing clients. some of you have walked with us every step of the way. I love this video. It’s a glimpse of what I see day to day. This is my view of what happens in the salon. It’s beautiful.

The women (and the man)that care for these dogs geniunely love them. And I am certainly highly favored for them to have been placed in my life. God gets the glory for this, as we celebrate his birth, let’s remember to “ give thanks” for every blessing you have, bring your friends and family near, and help someone that needs it every once in a while 🥰.

April and Jorden, you two are amazing. Thank you so much for the love and hard work you put into these dogs. I Hope you both know how much love I have for you, and how special our bond is.

Last but not least, Canine Corner wouldn’t exist without each and every one of our clients. . Thank you so much for loving us back!

Remember everyone, we will be closed Tomorrow November 24th and will re-open on Nov- 29th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Each year, we feel more blessed than the past. I haven’t updated in quite some time. You guys are keeping us busy for sure. We have some special elders at our salon, and in talking to a recent client, she states, “ my dog is old, will you be gentle?”. This IS NOT her dog, but it makes me smile when I think of someone asking if we will be gentle. Some of you have seen how special we treat our elders. Some of you haven’t. Here’s a tiny peek. 🚨SOS🚨

This is the post that we have been dreading...Chesapeake Animal Services is now at critical capacity. Like all shelters in our area and all over the nation, we have been seeing a sharp increase in intakes over the last few months. CAS has been able to avoid critical capacity up to this point by transferring animals to our local and regional rescue partners and by completing successful adoptions.

CAS is an open admission municipal shelter that accepts all animals from Chesapeake. We house strays, animals on court hold, animals on bite quarantine, and adoptable animals in our facility.

Since June 1, Chesapeake Animal Services has taken in 238 animals. We have been able to successfully transfer 39 of them to our rescue partners, but like us, they are also running out of space. Our adoption and transfer numbers have not been able to offset the number of animals coming in.

We need our community's help. Please adopt! We need forever homes for our animals. Our adoptable animals are spayed/neutered, are up to date on rabies and age-appropriate vaccines, tested for heartworms(dog) or FIV/FeLv(cat), and are microchipped.

While offers to foster are appreciated, our main goal is to place animals into permanent homes.

Due to very limited staffing and resources, we do not have the ability to facilitate large-scale fostering which is why our foster efforts tend to focus on neonate kittens only.

We need adopters. Shelter staff are doing everything we can to save as many animals as we can. We appreciate your patience and your kindness as we continue to strive for positive outcomes for all our animals. 🙏

How our community can help:

Adopt, adopt, adopt.
Spay and neuter your pets.
Microchip your pets.
Come to the shelter to look for/reclaim your pets when they go missing.
Please exhaust all other rehoming options prior to making an appointment to surrender your animal to us.

Tues 12pm-6pm
Sunday 12pm-4pm
