Update: 4/24/26 Adoption Pending!

Still Available! Charlie Brown is a cute little neutered male beagle, around 8 years old available for adoption in Chesapeake, VA (adoption area is within 1.5 hours of 23322). Charlie is a short and stocky guy and is 22lbs

Basic Facts:
Charlie, Male, Neutered ~8y old 22lbs
Good with: Dogs, Cats, Kids
Health: Up to date on Vaccines. Heartworm (-) microchipped
Must Have: Fenced in yard and another dog companion
Fun Fact: Huge Cuddle bug that loves toys, excellent at cleaning up crumbs

Charlie is a super sweet cuddly boy; he just wants to climb up in your lap for a snuggle. He loves having his back scratched, going for walks/adventures, every person/dog/cat and kid he meets!

Charlie was surrendered to BTTR when his family was preparing to move and didn’t think they would have room for him in their growing family. The final straw for his family was Charlie was viciously attacked by neighbor’s large unvaccinated dog (see the scars on his face). They were concerned for his safety since the neighbor’s dog often ran loose and dug under the fence into their backyard.

Charlie has recovered fully from the attack despite bites across his snout and under his right eye and still has a happy go lucky demeanor. He has a golden retriever personality!

Charlie walks really well on a leash, does well in the car, housebroken, does okay left alone for 7 hours (with another dog), and has basic house manors. He loves toys and almost always has a toy in his mouth.

Charlie is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines (rabies/parvo/distemper/lepto/bordetella), heartworm/tick borne illness negative, and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention.

Charlie loves to be outside and would love a home where he could go for walks and have a fenced in yard to sniff and explore. Like many beagles he is a medium energy dog and is not the best fit for an apartment (he does bark when excited) and will wander off if not on a leash or in a fenced in area. Charlie really needs a home with another dog companion, he loves to play with his dog friends of all sizes and had good respect for cats, even comfortable sleeping next to them.

Charlie has been staying with a foster family for a few weeks with another beagle and 2 cats and his foster mom would love to answer any questions about him.

BTTR offers a trail period for all our adoptions to make sure we are the right fit! If you are interested in learning more about Charlie give us a call at 757-447-7773 or check out our website at

Update 4/24/26 Adoption Pending!

Meet Charlie Brown! Charlie is a cute little neutered male beagle, around 9 years old available for adoption in Chesapeake, VA (adoption area is within 1.5 hours of 23322). Charlie is a short and stocky guy and is currently a little overweight at 25lbs.

Charlie is a super sweet cuddly boy; he just wants to climb up in your lap for a snuggle. He loves having his back scratched, going for walks/adventures, every person he meets, and of course food! Charlie gets along with just about everyone, he has previously lived well with young children, cats, chickens, and other dogs of varying sizes.

Charlie was surrendered to BTTR when his family was preparing to move. Charlie was also attacked by the neighbor’s dog (see the scars on his face) and they were concerned for his safety since the neighbor’s dog often dug under the fence into their backyard. Charlie has fully recovered and still seems to love all dogs and people. Charlie walks really well on a leash, appears housebroken, and has great basic house manors.

Like many beagles he is a medium energy dog and is not the best fit for an apartment and cannot be let off leash without wandering off. Charlie would do best in a home with another dog as a companion, as he is working through some minor separation anxiety.

BTTR offers a trail period for all our adoptions to make sure we are the right fit! If you are interested in learning more about Charlie give us a call at 757-447-7773 or check out our website at

This consider Cliff's! Since I always "close for intake" then take about 20 more i need your help 😅

We take anyone we can. Usually the medically needy, the heartworm positive pups, the "lumpy and bumpy" pups. The elderly, the hurt, etc. The ones who will or have been overlooked. Thats who I want because thats who needs US!

As of 12/1 our vet bill is over $7,000. We have 6 heartworm positive dogs and (4 with pending tests), 4 pending spay and neuter, one with a healing broken leg requiring continued x rays, one with a reoccurring mass in the mouth, the list goes on and on and on. Please help us get this bill WAY down so we can start the new year fresh
