Abbie didn’t have the best start, but we’ve worked hard to help her get to a more physically and mentally balanced life! She’s been through our training program & knows the basics, plus some awesome Ecollar off leash reliability and an eagerness to learn even more!

Abbie is spayed, fully vetted, potty trained, crate trained, good with kids, and overall an amazing loyal girl.

Abbie does have a little mistrust of strangers, but with some patience (and treats!) she can overcome it quickly. She is a little dog selective since she hasn’t been properly socialized in a long time, but can live with another dog if it’s the right match. Her new home would do well to continue training and building her confidence so she can only get better over time!

Abbie is officially AVAILABLE for adoption!
Here's a little more about our sweet girl:

She is a 3 year old Pitbull who is about 50 pounds, is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vetting. Abbie went through our training program almost 2 years ago and was a dream to train when she excelled with an eagerness to learn and please! Unfortunately, she was in a home environment that was a little rough and broke down her confidence, so we've been focusing on re-socializing and building her back up while also getting her physically healthy again.

She is shy with new people, but warms up quickly if you're patient and have some treats! She absolutely loves children, she grew up with several and has done well around the infant in our home. She does well at the vet and the groomer even though she starts out nervous. As far as dogs, it took a while for her to warm up and remember how to "dog" after such a long time without socialization. At this time she's still a little socially awkward and can have a hard time reading when other dogs are "done playing" but she does give and take corrections well enough. Her typical rough play style isn't every dog's cup of tea, but for the pups that have been down to chase and wrestle she's loved it! So far, she has been besties with a young cattledog, a senior Newfoundland, a young pitty pup, and a rambuncious Boston Terrier!

Abbie walks well on a leash, has awesome recall, knows Sit, Down, Place, Break, Drop It (loves her ball!), is crate trained and potty trained, is non-reactive to other people or dogs on walks, and is overall extremely eager to please and is a quick learner! She's a medium energy dog who's happy to cuddle on the couch on rainy days, but also plays hard and has an athletic build that can get her moving! She can self entertain with a toy or chewy, loves a good walk, and would be a great casual hiking buddy!

Checkout the first video on my page to compare the two dogs, but this is another example of a dog setting a boundary and asking for space! It’s YOUR JOB as the adult to prevent any inappropriate interactions between your children and your dogs, so setting boundaries for BOTH sets everyone up for safety and success!

I’ve started a GoFundMe for little Miss Abbie, our newest foster dog! She is being privately funded through me rather than a local rescue since she’s a previous client, but we didn’t exactly anticipate all the medical needs she would have or what rough shape she would be in when we got her. I’m not looking to make any profit at all from donations, just looking for a little support getting her in tip top shape for her new home! Please share and spread the love for this sweet girl šŸ’•

There are TONS of ways our dogs communicate they’re uncomfortable, and unfortunately not enough people know how to look for them. This is why Children under the age of 5 make up the majority of dog bites in the country.

šŸ‘‰ I cannot stress this enough: YOUR KIDS NEED TO RESPECT YOUR DOGS!!!! It is YOUR JOB as the adult to put boundaries in place and prevent incidents. That means kids need to:
- Leave them alone when they have food, bones, toys
- Leave them alone when they’re sleeping
- Leave them alone when they’re in the kennel or bed
- DO NOT HUG THEM
- DO NOT CRAWL ON THEM
- DO NOT GRAB THEM

None of these things are cute or fun or enjoyable for your dog, so why expect them to tolerate it?
