According to the SPCA and Humane Society, in the next 4-8 weeks, you'll all be seeing the "We need to re-home our pet..." posts. These are the people who went ahead and purchased puppies & kittens as Christmas gifts who are suddenly allergic, moving, having a baby, don't have time, their kids won't take care of it, didn't think they'd get so big, blah, blah, blah. Problem is, almost 90% of unwanted pets, sadly end up in kill shelters.

Allow me to break it down for you.

You didn't know you had an allergy? Oops. Don't let the pet suffer, buy some allergy medicine, if you love your pet, it's absolutely worth a shot.

You're moving? What city are you moving to that doesn't allow dogs? Bullsh*tville? You have a responsibility to your living, breathing family member to plan ahead to find a house, apartment or condo that will ALLOW your family member. Period.

Oh, you had no idea you were due to have a baby in 2 months? Interesting. Get a dog trainer if you're housing a breed you fear might become an issue. It's also worth a shot.

Don't have time for ONE 15 minute walk, or to have a dog just sit next to you while you're home? Really? So they're better off in a shelter than waiting in your house for you to get home? Ok, perhaps get another pet to keep them company or look for a local dog-sitter.

Oh, you mean your 5 year old didn't step up to the plate to feed, walk and scoop p**p? And this surprised you? I guess it's time for YOU to step up and model responsibility for your child.

Wrong size? Not cute as an adult? Not quite the personality you expected?

Spencer was found on Dallas Spencer mtn rd, He is a sweet Neutered boy that could use a foster as he has now been surrendered to us by his owners who are unable to care for him!
He was groomed for us by PoshPups Pawtique (Thank You!) If you can foster him for us please let us know. We will provide his food and he will be updated on his shots prior to foster. He is a good sweet boy, 7 years old and very laid back.

Hey Guys!!
A few updates on whats going on here at Gracie's House! We are currently in search of 2 fosters one for Spencer the found Terrier Mix and one for Puppies (ALSO need Cat fosters) .
Also we are starting a community pet food "bank" we have added some small bags of food to our amazon wish list labeled " Pet Pantry- Community Supplies" Here in Gaston county pet retention is a HUGE issue and often due to finances people give up their pets to the shelter. One or two bags of dog food to a family in need can often be the difference in seeing another number in the shelter system.
And last on our list is our rescue needs. We have two "senior" dogs that need canned food mixed into their kibble and we are burning through cans quicker than ever, we also have pups who can always benefit from feeding a little extra canned food here and there. CRATES are another HUGE need. New or used, big or small it doesn't matter we are in need of them all, even cat carriers.
We have Dixie, Tootes, Roxanne, Bear, and Maddie all ready for adoption.

Dixie is a 13 year old Beagle who we met waiting at the intake doors to Gaston County Animal Control. Someone flagged us down and after chatting with her owner we took her in. Dixie would love to live with someone who can be there with her in her golden years. Dixie is spayed (we are waiting on her vet records but know she is spayed) and houstrained, she is good with dogs, cats, Chickens, gentle children (she is older and has aches and pains) and even ferrets. Meet Spencer!!

Spencer was found on Dallas Spencer mtn rd, He is a sweet Neutered boy that could use a foster while we search for his owners (and if not found so we can get him vetted and adopted) He was groomed today for us by PoshPups Pawtique (Thank You!) If you can foster him for us please let us know. We will provide his food and will have him vetted once a 7 day stray hold is up.
