This week, we celebrated our amazing crew here at Haven/PetPT!

We are so incredibly grateful for every single phone answered, nail clipped, blood draw, TM assist, shoulder to cry on, medication filled, appointment scheduled, heartfelt treatment, thoughtful diagnosis, and all the comedic relief that only this place can provide!

Their bites can cause intense itching and allergic skin reactions. These unwanted guests can also settle into your home, making consistent, pet-appropriate prevention important.

🕷️ Ticks: The Hitchhikers
They attach to pets and can transmit disease. Check your pet after outdoor adventures and ask us which tick protection fits their lifestyle.

🪱 Intestinal Worms: The Hidden Houseguests

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Rhys Hagen to Haven Animal Health Services!

Dr. Hagen completed her Bachelor of Science at Rutgers University, with dual minors in Korean and International and Global Studies, then headed across the pond to earn her veterinary degree at University College Dublin. We are very glad she chose Haven.

Her professional interests are internal medicine, primary care, and preventive medicine: the care that keeps your pets well and catches problems early. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her family, a good book, and planning her next adventure. She has visited 30 countries, and counting.

Dr. Hagen is spending her first week getting to know our team and our patients, and will begin seeing wellness and preventive care appointments the week of October 12. Her arrival means more appointments on our schedule, so if your pet is due for a checkup, this is a good time to call.

But did your pet eat the packaging, too? 👀

When pets help themselves to Halloween treats, unwrapping is rarely their strong suit. Even if the candy isn’t toxic, swallowed wrappers can cause choking or an intestinal blockage. That’s one trick nobody wants. 🐾

Our team’s advice? Keep candy AND the crinkly evidence out of reach, including in a secure trash bin.

📞 Missing wrappers and a suspiciously innocent face? Call us or an emergency veterinary clinic promptly if you suspect your pet swallowed one. Don’t wait for symptoms—and seek immediate emergency care for trouble breathing.
