Dog Training - Sue Battel I am a valued member of Pampered Pet Sitting .My philosophy does not include dominance or submission. It focuses on developing RESPECT.

I have been a valued member of the VCA Maple Shade Animal Hospital for 18 years. My background as a certified behavioral therapist, along with many years working within the animal hospital, gives me a unique perspective on animal care. Twenty-five years ago I apprenticed under three different dog trainers over a course of five years. I have been involved in training search and rescue dogs, narcotics and police dogs, and schutzhund training. I have even worked with a pure bred wolf for two years. During this time, I began to formulate my own programs based on my philosophy of RESPECT. My goal for you and your dog is not one that includes submission, fear or domination. Instead, I can help you forge a bond with your pet that most owners could only dream of having. Love, praise, patience and consistency are the hallmarks of my program and the keys to its success. Through a personalized program tailored towards your individual pet’s needs, I will teach you how to modify ANY behavioral issues your dog may be having to maximize their success. PROGRAMS OFFERED:

PRIVATE LESSONS- Our private training program is a personalized program designed for behavior modification, as well as a way to teach you how to reach the highest goals you have for your dogs. Some concerns are better dealt with on a one-on-one basis. We teach owners how to be comfortable with- and not embarrassed by- their dog’s behavior at a friend’s house, at home with company or out for a walk. What most owners don’t realize is that serious behavioral problems, such as fearfulness and aggression, CAN be dealt with, so we design our programs for those issues as well. In our private training sessions we set our clients and their best friends up for GREAT success!!! AGILITY DOG TRAINING- An advanced level of dog training designed to develop stronger communication levels between dog and owner while teaching both a higher level of teamwork. This eight week program will find your pet mastering dog walks, weave poles, tunnels and much more! Under the guidance of trainer Sue Battel, you will have the opportunity to spend quality time with your pet while channeling his or her behavior in a positive and fun-filled direction. CANINE GOOD CITIZENSHIP CERTIFICATE- Every owner wants to think that their well-trained dog is a good canine citizen. I can make sure your dog is ready to take the test and qualify for the AKC Canine Good Citizenship Certification. PUPPY CLASSES- Our puppy kindergarten classes are the perfect place to start if you are a first time dog owner or have not raised a puppy for several years. Your puppy will learn basic commands and you will learn helpful tips for housebreaking, chewing and biting. Puppies must be 8-10 weeks old and immunized with their first DHLPP booster. Classes are one hour each over a six week session. It’s the perfect opportunity for your puppy to learn good manners while socializing and playing. WHAT SETS US APART:

You work exclusively with one highly skilled trainer who designed the program- not with apprentices
Our training program is strictly “on leash” training. Your pets are too precious to risk having them hurt while following their instinct to chase a rabbit into traffic, etc. Training takes place in either our climate controlled indoor space or, weather permitting, our fully enclosed outdoor area. So just a short story but I have a new client who recently adopted a Pug who is I believe four years old and he is from a local rescue and the story is the owner was a senior and couldn't take care of the dog anymore and the son didn't want to take care of him so he dumped him in the shelter. The first picture of him was from when they first adopted him and it was so obvious how neglected he was.
So my client adopted him and within owning him for six weeks he started to show a resource guarding issue that was escalating so she reached out to me. I met them and all I could see when I looked into his eyes was a soul that just wanted love.
So I explained how I would help them and she gets on my schedule but as she is working with him I noticed he wasn't sitting normal and I felt like he had something wrong with either his legs or back. I recommended that he get an exam and x-rays so she did get this done.
I talked to her last night and apparently he has a back issue to the point that he is struggling to go to the bathroom because of pain and possibly the way he has to stand hurts his back.
So we talked about all types of options to help him but this is the most amazing part of this story. She has only had him for about two months and she is fighting for him in a way that is SO heartwarming!!! She didn't raise him but she will not give up on him!!
I believe that being a professional dog trainer is not just about the training and behavior but the health of the dog and most trainers do not go beyond the behavior. I feel like it's partly my responsibility to educate my clients about the health of the dog as well.
I believe this is part of the journey and I said to his momma last night whatever I can do to help her and support her.....I am right here by her side. I want whatever time he has left in his adorable life to be the happiest and pain free best life he can get and WOW was he meant to be in the family he is in now!!! I have nothing but the highest level of respect for his family!!! This is what dog ownership is all about.....UNCONDITIONAL LOVE and safety ❤️!

MEET DAKOTA......THIS IS MY " WHY" .... I met Dakota and her momma over the summer and the reason why her momma reached out to me is because one day I believe about a year ago when they had been out for a walk Dakota was attacked by a neighborhood dog .
The dog ran out of the house and just went right after her and the damage physically well she has scares but mentally the damage done was that Dakota would no longer go for walks.
The fear and anxiety that Dakota was showing was profound and she just wouldn't walk. Dakota's momma reached out to another trainer and signed her up for their program but the issue was.....they didn't offer any form of rehabilitating her anxiety or outside training and walks.
So her momma asked the trainer " Well what about her outside walking problem which is why I reached out"? The answer was " Well she doesn't need to walk"! I couldn't believe this was said and especially from a trainer!!!
So we met and I explained to her momma how my training process works and that I will give her everything I have to help her. So we started our journey and with the unconditional love patience and understanding Dakota is now able to take walks and love it!!!
I get these reports from her momma and she sends me videos of her walks and updates that are the most beautiful updates on her progress. I seriously couldn't be more proud of both of them and I just love the constant reports from her momma!
The dog training journey doesn't stop when the client is finished their program and the connection between the owner and the trainer or at least me doesn't stop just because the dog is finished training. I walk by my clients side for the rest of the dogs life!!! This is just the best career and I am SO blessed to be able to help SO many clients!!!!

MEET NORMAN......BUILDING AN UNBREAKABLE BOND..... So this beautiful soul is Norman and he is I believe four years old hound mix who suffers from anxiety. Norman has a beautiful family with two young children who Norman is not sure about so this journey is about relieving his anxiety building his confidence and teaching him the children are family and he will be ok.
The one statement made by his momma was " Will Norman ever look at me the way he looks at my husband "? So Norman picked his daddy to be his " Person " and really looks at him like he is Norman's " Everything " .
I explained to his momma that with the way I teach in my training programs his bond WILL shift and he WILL start looking at your soul instead of just looking around. These are pictures of our session last week and the way Norman is looking at his momma is just SO beautiful and we have only had a couple of sessions ❤️!
This journey as their relationship grows is such a beautiful gift to watch grow!!! The process of professional dog training MUST ALWAYS be about the relationship between the owner and the dog and educating the owner about the dog and how to better understand why the dog reacts the way he does and how to best help him but if you look closely......there is no electric shock collar on him and no remote in the owners hand!!!
I am temporarily using treats but I am not giving him a treat for everything he does and we will be weaning him off the treats. The most important part for me about how I help my clients is to keep the dogs soul SAFE and HAPPY!!! The best part is when Norman comes to class we have the best conversation about how Norman is doing and yes I do mean Norman and I....eventually I have a conversation with his parents too but Norman and I have to have our time first ❤️!
I love how much my clients dogs do look forward to seeing me and coming to class and are just HAPPY!!! I really do love my career!!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY.......TWO YEARS AND GOING STRONG...... So I sit here and I think back to two years ago and how incredibly difficult the place my career was in and as I have always done I just kept fighting for what I have built in my career for over forty years and I was never going to give up....and I reached out to THE Mary Grace Neale and talked to her about letting me become a part of her Pampered Pet Sitting Service LLC family.
The amazing support and unconditional love that Mary shares is the most beautiful gift and this journey has been such a positive happy supportive journey and Mary is SO easy to talk to!
Mary listens with her heart and supports me in literally every aspect of my career. Mary took a big chance in getting the beautiful training room we have and she has helped to make it my home away from home training space!
Mary has the same beliefs that I have... this journey is about helping as many people as possible live a life that is as free of stress as possible and that we will support our clients in any way we can. Mary has NEVER been about the money but about making sure ALL of her staff is HAPPY and feeling IMPORTANT and HEARD and FAIR! So on this second anniversary I must say THANK YOU MARY FOR WALKING THIS BEAUTIFUL JOURNEY BY MY SIDE! I love my career and I am EXACTLY where I belong❤️❤️❤️!!!!!

SOME PERSONAL THOUGHTS......So I'm sitting here in my living room and it's 2:30 in the morning and I can't sleep. I am thinking about my life and my career and about the journey my life has been on and I am thinking about how much I have learned and grown over the years.
I am thinking about all of my clients....past and present....and how many different types of behavior issues and conversations I have had with my clients and how many dogs that have come into my life and I have been told by my clients that I am their last chance of saving the homes/ lives for the dog and family.
I not only specialize with rehabilitating rescue dogs but I specialize in dogs who show aggressive behaviors and yes I take in clients who their dog has a bite history. I do not like labels but this is a fact and so many of these cases have already been through other training programs.
I think about how many lives I have saved and I am SO proud of who I have become in my career. I saw a client a couple of days ago with a 4 year old rescue who has a major aggressive behavior in ways that my concern is....I may not be able to help my client.
I did meet with my client and his dog and regardless of the extent of this dogs behavior issues this person cherishes his dog and we talked about what may happen if I can't help him which is not a conversation I take lightly.
I may never be able to touch his dog and I am OK with that and there are some cases that I just can't have physical contact with but I will absolutely do whatever I need to help save his life. The most honorable part about this journey with this client is......he is coming from Mittlesex NJ to see me for help!
I have NEVER dreamed that my career that my reputation would ever build to the point that I am having this amazing reach with my clients ❤️! I am asked frequently by friends and even clients if I am worried about being bit by any of these dogs that come to me with these behavior issues and the answer is......I will absolutely make sure I don't put myself in a position that will get me bit but in the end.....for me this is about saving a life!
I know this is something most trainers can't or won't do but to me this is a soul who is deeply loved by their family and this is a soul that deserves a chance of a happier life and if I can help......well then I will because that is who I am and I believe this is my calling in my life ❤️! I just wanted to share some personal thoughts I have about me and my career and I want to say Thank you to every client who has reached out to me and supported me in my career and most importantly who has trusted their dogs life in my hands! This life has been such a beautiful ride and I will continue my life journey until I can't!

MEET DAISY......SUCH A BABY YET SO AFRAID....HER FIRST TRAINING SESSION.... This beautiful soul is Daisy and when I met her just a couple weeks ago she was so scared and hid under the chairs. This really broke my heart.
I looked into her eyes and all I saw was a very young puppy who just wanted to hid and not be seen. Daisy is a rescue from one of our local shelters and she honestly has the best most understanding loving family.
We talked about her fear and how I can help rehabilitate her as this is what I specialize with and as we ended our first meeting she would slowly come out from under the chairs and take a treat from me. I absolutely made sure she knew she was safe with me!
This video was just a week after our first meeting at her very first training session and all I can say is WOW what a difference in her trust!!! This really was so beautiful to watch her walk proud and wag her tail and respond in such a HAPPY FEAR FREE way to everything her momma guided her with.
The training process takes time and will change as she learns and grows and as her momma learns and grows and eventually we will not be using treats and we will transfer her training to the real world but for now the MOST IMPORTANT part of this training process is NEVER setting her or her momma up for failure.
This journey is ALWAYS about keeping her soul SAFE and building the most amazing incredible beautiful bond between them and this will always be done in the most positive safest way possible!!!! I see a soul in her that is sensitive and beautiful and all she wants is to be loved and safe and between her family and I we will make sure we gift her the best part of life.....SAFETY....LOVE.....CONFIDENCE.....TRUST....FREE❤️! This is why I became a professional dog trainer! My training process saves lives saves souls and I love my calling I love my career❤️!!!!
