ADOPTABLES OF THE WEEK

This is Peanut, a male, smallish to medium size fellow who has the agility we often see in our mixes (Terrier? Mountain Feist?) to earn the name Peanut with his antics. Peanut is now approximately 10-12 months old, neutered, sporting a Tri color short haired coat. He is looking for his forever home where he can also bring on the smiles to you.

Styx is a 1-2 year old friendly grey short haired tabby. Styx is spayed and she is a barn cat...a good cat for keeping things in order outside the house but also will come up for affection and visiting.

Call 870 994-4445 to have the Cherokee Village Animal Control office schedule a meet and greet. Best calling hours are Monday through Friday, 10-2.

Our aim is to have the very best trained and socialized puppies up for adoption. With the possibility that the Littles litter has Lab in them, it is time for duck retrieving training😉. They were right on it.

On Saturday our cats and puppies and a few dogs were treated to extra fun and socializing by a Girl Scout Group. THANK YOU to Girl Scout troop 3385 from Salem, Arkansas. This was the first time our puppies had a large group to meet so this type of socializing is very important and beneficial for them. And they were all tuckered out afterwards!

UPDATE: Pre - Adopted
It is just a coincidence that today’s posting are dogs of the herding breed. We have one more to introduce to you and her name is Ripley. Ripley would be available for adoption in about 8 weeks as she came in as a pregnant stray, and was a stray for months, evading capture but being fed. Ripley is due to give birth any time now. She is comfortably situated with her own birthing room in the office and learning all about trusting people as she is meeting many. Very shy and timid currently but has completely attached to our AC assistant, getting all the loves from her and is opening up to our ACO. Ripley is a border collie mix, petite, the size of a Sheltie. She is probably1-2 years old. Very pretty with silky long hair, super smart. Keep your eye out for updates on Ripley!

Charlee is currently being fostered following her return to CVAC due to a hospitalization of her owner. Prior to that she has lived in a home full time and transitioned right to her foster home.
Charlee is a beautiful, medium sized female. Her cream and tan long hair coat likely has a bit of some type of herding breed giving her almost a sheltie or small collie look but with the light coloring. She is a very sweet dog.
This smiling girl is house trained, leash trained, non destructive in the home. She is very friendly to people and got along well with a variety of dogs in her former home as well as a great pal to her foster home’s resident dog. In other words: Charlee is one who can readily move into an adoptive home as she has been cared for with love.

Call CVAC at 870 994-4445 for a meet and greet to be scheduled as her foster would need to bring her in.

UPDATE: in foster to adopt
FOSTER FRIDAY
Homer was found as a stray and while posted as lost, no one claimed this 7-10 year old, neutered male Australian Shepherd. Homer was fostered right after his arrival at CVAC and was in need of grooming and nail care, which he has received and now is a most handsome model for his breed. His foster reports that Homer is shy, needing a slow introduction to people, but that he LOVES other dogs. He is great with her cats. He is a sweet dog. His foster is feeding him soft food as his teeth appear to be worn down, but then he thoroughly enjoys his food. Homer just came off stray hold and is waiting for his forever home.

Call CVAC at 870 994-4445 for a meet and greet to be scheduled as his foster would need to bring her in.

10 dogs sponsored! Why do people sponsor a dog or cat? The reasons are varied but include:
🐾They made a connection with the dog when visiting, but are not in the position to adopt.
🐾They are “paying it forward”, having experienced the rewards of adoption, and wanting to share that with others.
🐾They find out the dogs that have wonderful personalities, but for whatever reason, they are looked over.
🐾They may have heard from staff or volunteers about a favorite dog.
🐾They may sponsor in memory of a beloved pet they lost. Or as a birthday present for someone who “has everything they need”.
🐾They may be a business that sees this as a way to contribute to the community.
The reasons are as varied as the individuals but with results such as 26 ADOPTIONS IN SEPTEMBER! We are very grateful to those who sponsor adoptions. Please come out to see any of these dogs or call 870 994-4445. If you’d like to know more about sponsoring a dog or cat, please call.
