We love being able to support the incredible rescues and animal advocates in our community. ❤️

One of our favorites is Cheney Cat Connection, run by the wonderful Cathy Heston. Cathy works tirelessly to care for Cheney’s feral and community cat population, making sure these often-overlooked kitties get the help they need.

And then there’s Coconut. 🥥🐱 He’s only been with us a short time, but he has already completely won over our hearts.

If you’d like to help support Coconut and the many other cats in Cathy’s care, please consider donating directly to the Cheney Cat Connection fund through Cheney Veterinary Clinic.

📞 Call us at 509-235-6860 to make a donation.

Community cats need community support — and we’re so grateful to be part of a community that shows up for them. ❤️🐾

👂✨ What happens when your pet has an ear infection?

Luna’s mom noticed something wasn’t quite right with her ears, so she brought her in to see us! 🐶

We started with a thorough physical exam, then took a sample from her ear to look at under the microscope. 🔬 This helps us figure out what’s actually causing the infection so we can choose the right treatment.

Then came the less glamorous part… a good ear cleaning! 😅🧼 Followed by the appropriate medication to help those ears feel better.

Ear infections can be uncomfortable (and sometimes VERY itchy!), so if your pet is shaking their head, scratching their ears, or you notice redness, odor, or discharge, it’s worth getting them checked out. ❤️

Feel better soon, Luna! 🐾

Healthy from the Inside Out 🩺🐾

Your pet may look perfectly healthy—but many illnesses begin long before they show obvious signs.

That's why we recommend annual preventive care panels. These comprehensive screenings help us establish a healthy baseline and detect subtle changes early, when they're often easier (and less expensive) to manage.

Every preventive panel is tailored to your pet and may include:
✔️ Comprehensive bloodwork
✔️ Urinalysis
✔️ F***l parasite screening
✔️ Heartworm testing
✔️ Tick-borne disease screening (dogs)
✔️ ProBNP heart disease screening (cats)
✔️ FIV/FeLV testing (cats)
✔️ Optional canine lymphoma screening

Think of it as routine maintenance for your pet's health. You hope everything comes back normal—but if something is beginning to change, we'd much rather find it today than months from now.

💙 August Special: Save $25 on preventive care panels through August 31.

📞 Call Cheney Veterinary Clinic at (509) 235-6860 to schedule your pet's annual wellness visit and find out which preventive panel is right for them.

❤️🐾 Our community is incredible.

Because of your generosity, we've already delivered several carloads of donations to families and pets affected by the wildfires. (I wish I was better at remembering to take pictures 🤦🏻‍♀️)

But the need is still great.

We're continuing to collect:
💧 Bottled water
🥫 Non-perishable food
🧼 Hygiene items
🐶 Dog food
🐱 Cat food

Every case of water, every bag of pet food, and every donation makes a difference for someone who has lost so much.

📍 Donations can be dropped off at Cheney Veterinary Clinic during regular business hours, and we'll continue getting supplies into the hands of those who need them most.

If you're under evacuation orders and need help moving your animals, please send us a DM. Our team has experience assisting with horses, cattle, goats, sheep, poultry, dogs, and cats, and we'll do everything we can to help.

Keep 'em coming, community! ❤️ We couldn't do this without you.

Some days in veterinary medicine leave a mark on your heart forever.

Today was one of those days.

Behavioral euthanasia is one of the hardest decisions anyone can face. It is never taken lightly, and it is only considered when an animal’s suffering has reached a place where there are no humane alternatives.

Jayne’s story is one of unimaginable neglect and abuse. She never had the chance to know what safety, trust, or kindness truly felt like until the very end of her life.

We are deeply grateful to Amber with Just Ducky and Friends for fighting so hard for dogs like Jayne and for giving her the dignity, compassion, and love she deserved in her final moments.

Thank you to Dr. and for treating Jayne with such tenderness.

Though we couldn’t change her past, we could make sure she wasn’t alone.

Sometimes veterinary medicine isn’t about saving a life.

Sometimes it’s about ending suffering with love.

Run free, sweet Jayne. 🤍

If you’d like to support Amber’s rescue work, she has an account at our clinic and you can donate directly by calling 509-235-6860.

☀️ Summer means more adventures with the pets we love—camping trips, hikes, lake days, vacations, and backyard fun.
We hope every adventure ends with happy memories, but sometimes curious noses and unexpected moments lead pets farther from home than anyone planned.

A microchip is a simple, permanent form of identification that greatly improves the chances of being reunited if your pet ever gets lost. Unlike collars and tags, a microchip stays with your pet for life (as long as your contact information stays up to date!).

🐾 Through the end of July, all microchips are 25% off.
Whether your pet is a seasoned explorer or an expert escape artist, now is a great time to add an extra layer of protection.

📞 Call us (509) 235-6860 or text us at (509) 285-9739 to schedule an appointment or ask us any questions about the microchipping process. We're always happy to help.
