Meet Dodo 🤍

Dodo came to us through one of the incredible rescues we work with, and despite the challenges she was born with, she is one of the happiest little puppies you could ever meet.

She was born with severely deformed front legs, so we took X-rays to better understand what was happening beneath the surface. One of her front legs is currently free-floating and will require corrective surgery in the next 4–6 weeks.

And yet… none of that has stopped her from being full of love, wiggles, and joy.

We are so grateful she landed with the kind souls at Just Ducky and Friends, where she is being absolutely adored while we make plans for her future care.

If you would like to help support Dodo’s upcoming surgery and medical care, donations can be made directly to Cheney Vet under “Dodo.”

This sweet girl has a long road ahead, but she is already proving just how resilient a tiny puppy can be. 🐾

It’s Veterinary Receptionist Week—and today we’re celebrating Melissa. 🐾

If you’ve ever called, checked in, or navigated a busy moment at our front desk—there’s a good chance Melissa was behind it.

She is the calm in the middle of the chaos. The one keeping schedules on track, clients informed, and a hundred moving pieces from colliding.

It’s not always visible work—but it’s constant, and it’s critical.

Melissa doesn’t just manage the front desk—she holds it together. And on the days where everything feels a little wild, she’s the reason it all still works.

Our front desk is the heartbeat of this clinic. We’re lucky to have them—feel free to show them some love below 🐾

It’s Veterinary Receptionist Week—and we’re celebrating Ashley. ✨

Every clinic has someone who brings the joy—and for us, that’s Ashley.

She’s the one dancing between phone calls, greeting clients with a smile, and somehow keeping the front flowing even on the busiest days. There’s a lightness she brings—you feel it the moment you walk through the door.

And yes… certain smells 💩 will absolutely take her out 🤢. No shame in that—we all have our limits.

But here’s the truth: we quite literally cannot run this practice without her.

Ashley keeps things moving, keeps things human, and reminds us that joy belongs in this work, too. ✨

If Ashley has ever helped you (or made your visit a little easier), we’d love to hear about it 💛

🐾 Meet Cyrus 🐾

Okay… just look at that face. 🥺💛

Cyrus is a 1-year-old mastiff puppy who should have been living his best goofy puppy life from day one—but instead, he came from an irresponsible breeding situation and was born with his ear canal completely closed.

Because of that, he dealt with constant infections and painful abscesses… his whole life.

His rescuer searched for help, but after seeing a couple of vets, they were given the most heartbreaking recommendation—euthanasia.

But Cyrus had other plans. 💛

He found his way to us, and Dr. Jess said, “let’s try.”
She performed a specialized surgery to remove his entire ear canal down to the eardrum—giving him the relief he’s never had before.

And now? 🐾✨

His owner says he’s finally acting like a puppy for the very first time. Running, playing, being silly… all the things he was missing.

When Dr. Jess heard that, she said:
“This is exactly why we do this medicine.” 💛

We’re so lucky to work with Friends of Bolt, a rescue that helps make stories like Cyrus’s possible—raising funds and finding fosters for animals who just need someone to believe in them.

If Cyrus made you smile today, you can help the next pup like him by donating through our clinic:

Most pets look perfectly healthy… until they’re not.

One of the hardest parts of veterinary medicine is that animals are incredibly good at hiding illness. By the time something feels obviously wrong, disease is often further along than we’d like.

That’s why annual preventive care matters.

These visits aren’t just a quick check-in—they’re how we look deeper.

A thorough exam. A conversation about your pet’s daily life. Diagnostics that help us see what’s happening beneath the surface. Thoughtful vaccine recommendations based on real risk.

It’s how we catch small changes early.
It’s how we track health over time.
It’s how we stay ahead of problems—rather than reacting to them.

If it’s been a while since your pet’s last exam, this is your gentle reminder that now is a good time to check in 🤍

Save this so you know what to expect at your pet’s next annual visit 🐾

If you’re not sure whether your pet is due, you can always ☎️ call or text us at 509)235-6860 —we’re happy to check for you.
