Cheboygan County Humane Society and Animal Control -ALL Animal Control complaints, please call 911- Investigate complaints of cruelty brought to our attention.

GOALS:
Prevent cruelty to animals in all its forms by providing rescue, housing, feeding, and medical attention for lost, stray, injured, or abandoned animals. If cases of cruelty are not resolved through education, then offenders are prosecuted. Promote respect for animals and awareness of human responsibility for their welfare through educational school presentations and general information to the public through print media and the Society's website. Maintain the dignity and defense of our goals through effective and meaningful interaction with communities throughout the counties we serve.

Some people come into your life and community and remind you what it truly means to show up, give back, and work together toward something bigger than yourself. For us at the Cheboygan County Humane Society, Black River Dog Retreat has been exactly that. 🐾❤️

As we prepare to open the doors to our very first Haunted Trail, we want to take a moment to recognize a partnership that means so much more to us than sponsorship alone.

The Haunted Trail opens today! Come enjoy an evening of spooky fun for the whole family. 🕸️🌙

Looking for a less scary experience? Join us between 4:30 and 6:30 PM! Haunts begin at dusk for those ready for a fright. 😱

Admission is by donation. Raffle basket tickets and shirts will also be available for purchase! 🎟️👕

Luna has officially found her forever family! ❤️🏡

Goodbyes are always bittersweet around CCHS, but these are the moments that make everything worth it. Watching our animals leave the shelter and begin their lives with families of their own is why we do what we do! 🥹💕

Congratulations to Luna and her new family! Thank you for opening your hearts and home to a shelter pet and giving this girl the happily-ever-after she deserves.

The Cheboygan County Humane Society’s FIRST-EVER Haunted Trail kicks off TOMORROW, Friday, October 23! 🧟‍♂️🌙

⏰ Open from 4:30 PM – 9:30 PM

We’ve spent WEEKS planning, preparing, decorating, and bringing this spooky adventure to life, and we are SO EXCITED to finally welcome everyone! 🦇🕷️ All that hard work is about to pay off, and we can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been working on!

🧺 Raffle basket tickets will be available for purchase on-site!
👕 CCHS Tshirts will also be available for purchase!

Come out, get your scare on, check out the decorations, try your luck at our raffles, and support the animals at CCHS while enjoying a little Halloween fun! 🐾🖤

Meet Atlas! 🐾💙

This handsome boy is ready to find a family who will help him grow into the amazing dog we know he can be!

Atlas is a 6-month-old Heelsky, a Heeler/Husky mix, and let us tell you… this boy is SMART! 🧠 He has a bright mind, a playful personality, and plenty of puppy energy to keep life interesting.

Atlas is still learning about the world around him and has been working hard to overcome some of his fears. We are so proud of the progress he’s making! With time, patience, and the right people by his side, he continues to build confidence and show us more of who he really is.

Being part Heeler, Atlas is already showing some of those classic herding-dog tendencies. He’s going to need a family who understands that smart, energetic working breeds need more than just a backyard. He’ll benefit from dedicated training, consistency, mental stimulation, and plenty of positive experiences to help him become the best version of himself.

But beneath that clever mind and busy puppy energy is a boy who appreciates loving one-on-one time with his people. Give him a chance to feel safe, build trust, and learn at his own pace, and you’ll be helping him develop a bond that will be so worth the effort. ❤️

Atlas was recently neutered and is still waiting on a couple of vaccines, but he doesn’t have to wait to start meeting potential adopters!

We’re looking for a family willing to invest in him, celebrate his progress, and give him the time and patience he deserves. He’s still a puppy with so much to learn, and his future is full of possibilities!
