Welcome BUCK to the AFDT Pack! 🐾

Buck is a handsome 5-year-old Chocolate Lab with some impressive bird-hunting skills already under his belt! Now we're helping him brush up on a few everyday obedience skills and learn better manners when visitors and delivery drivers arrive.

Buck and his paw-parent are putting in the work, and training is already off to a great start!

Welcome BARBARA & BERNIE to the AFDT Pack! 🐾

Meet Barbara and Bernie, two adorable Mini Goldendoodles with very different personalities! 6-year-old Barbara (left) is the shy one of the pair, while 3-year-old Bernie (right) is eager to please and ready to get to work. 💜

We're working on leash walking, obedience, door manners, and a little less barking. They made fantastic progress with their leash walking during their very first lesson, and their human is doing an amazing job putting everything into practice.

These two are off to a wonderful start. Welcome to the Pack, Barbara & Bernie! 🤩🙌

OLIVER COMPLETED HIS TRAINING! 🥳🤩

What a difference a few weeks can make!

When Oliver started, this sweet rescue boy was still learning how to navigate his brand-new world. With patience, structure, and some very dedicated paw-parents, he’s made wonderful progress in such a short time.

He’s more confident, walking better on leash, learning his obedience, and making great strides around other dogs. Most importantly, his humans now have the tools to keep building on everything he’s learned. 👏

SO proud of Oliver and everything he’s accomplished and of the Dedication that helped him get there. 💜🐾 ⭐

LUCY COMPLETED HER TRAINING!🥳🤩

This sweet girl was such a joy to have here for her Board & Train!

Lucy is incredibly smart, eager to please, and soaked up everything we worked on. From obedience and leash walking to boundaries, recall, and learning that training can be fun too - she made fantastic progress in a short amount of time. 👏

The best part was watching Lucy and her paw-parents put it all together during their handoff lesson. They did a fabulous job, and Lucy showed them just how much she had learned!

So proud of this sweet rescue girl and all she accomplished. Way to go Lucy!💜🐾

🐾 National Dog Day 🐾

They make us laugh.
They challenge us.
They comfort us.
They teach us patience.
And somehow, they become part of just about everything we do.

Today is National Dog Day - but around here, we think dogs deserve more than just one day. 💜

Give them the walk.
Let them sniff.
Give them structure and guidance.
Play the silly game.
And take a minute to simply enjoy the dog beside you.

Because their lives are never quite long enough. 🐾❤️

JERRY COMPLETED HIS TRAINING! 🥳🤩

What a fun little guy - and such a fun family to work with!

Jerry came into training as a newly rescued pup learning all about life with his new family. He caught on quickly, did a fantastic job with his Puppy Basic Obedience, and built a great foundation along the way.

His paw-parents were wonderful to work with, put in the effort, and it absolutely showed in Jerry's progress. 👏

GREAT job Jerry & family - you guys were a blast! 💜🐾

Welcome ROCCO to the AFDT Pack! 🐾

Rocco is a handsome 2-year-old Goldendoodle who recently started training with us. This sweet boy is quick to learn and has such a fun personality!

We're working on leash walking, door manners, building calm around distractions, and helping Rocco become a little more comfortable when his favorite human isn't right by his side.

Rocco and his paw-parent are already making great progress and are off to a fantastic start!

POPPY & GUS COMPLETED THEIR TRAINING! 🎉💜

These two cuties made some great progress during their Basic Obedience Training!

Their leash walking has come a long way, they’ve learned their commands and how to settle on Place when visitors arrive - and Miss Poppy even made it through her final greeting without that famous bark! 👏🤩

Poppy & Gus now have a great foundation to keep building on at home. Great job you two and Welcome to our AFDT Alumni Pack! 💜🐾

If Dogs Could Talk...

"I'm not trying to be difficult. I'm just not sure what to do when you're gone."

Following you from room to room.
Getting anxious when you prepare to leave.
Pacing after you walk out the door.
Barking, whining, chewing or scratching at doors.

Not every dog who follows their human or wants to be close has a problem. But for some dogs, these behaviors can be early signs that they're becoming overly dependent on their human and being alone may become increasingly difficult.

Recognizing those signs early gives us an opportunity to help them build independence and learn that being apart from you is okay, too. 💜🐾

GOOSE COMPLETED HIS TRAINING! 🎉💜

At just 10 months old, this handsome Bernese Mountain Dog is already quite the gentleman! Goose has a wonderful personality, great manners, and did a fantastic job throughout his Advanced Obedience Training.

He and his paw-parent made a great team, and it showed every step of the way. 👏
