Easy diy nesting box curtains 🐓 After our broody Mrs.Frizzle kept moving box to box to box, I decided to make some curtains to help her feel more tucked away while she’s protecting her nest.

I told my hubby my vision for our logo, and he went to work! I'm so happy with how it turned out. It features our darling Fluffy, our broodiest yet sweetest of ladies, sitting on top of three eggs that represent our three kids. My hubby came up with the name, and at first, I wasn't a fan. It felt intense, moody – not the words I was looking to “brand” us with. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that's exactly where we are. In chicken-world, a broody hen flips an internal switch and decides she is now a living incubator. Even if the eggs are imaginary, even if you gently explain logic to her, nothing can budge her. And I guess that's me, somewhat to a fault. In my mind, I have a vision of our land bursting with life – fruit trees, natives, giant gardens growing our food with enough to share, butterflies, bees, chickens, and goats if I can become convincing enough 🙃, compost returning life back to the soil, secret gardens and forts in the woods for our boys, barefoot with the sun shining on our tired and achy bodies. A Bit Broody can mean a number of things on any given day, but at its core, for us, it represents this deep desire to create life in every corner of our space – from the house to the garden, the overgrown forest surrounding our property, and most importantly, each other and our boys. We are living life a bit “broody” in that delicate space between an excited desire to create and the moodiness (good and bad) in the overwhelm that sometimes accompanies it. We are excited you're here for the laughter and the tears that will inevitably join us on this adventure as we embark on this urban home turned homestead(ish).
