COMMUNITY ADVISORY: The Tennessee Aquarium will conduct a training exercise with the Chattanooga Police Department and other first responders on Wednesday morning, Oct. 21. This drill will take place in and around the River Journey building from approximately 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. EDT.

The Aquarium will open for guests at 11 a.m. EDT – a one-hour delay to our normal hours of operation.

There are still three chances left to catch underwater pumpkin carving during the month of ODDtober!

Every Saturday at 2 p.m., our SCUBA divers will demonstrate their jack-o-lantern carving skills. These aquatic artisans alternate between our Tennessee River exhibit on odd-numbered Saturdays and the River Giants on even-numbered Saturdays.

Today, the Aquarium’s team released 531 juvenile Lake Sturgeon into the Tennessee River with the help of community members and Aquarium campers. Now in its 26th year, the keystone conservation program has seen more than 430,000 Lake Sturgeon released into the Tennessee and Cumberland River watersheds.

Those efforts paid off, and the Lake Sturgeon's conservation status in Tennessee was downgraded from endangered to threatened last year.

The species remains protected in the state, but anglers can still help track Lake Sturgeon in Tennessee! If you catch a Lake Sturgeon, you must release it, but you can report it to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency to help track the species' health.

Chalk one up for nature (and freshwater science), folks! Biologists working at Tennessee Aquarium Conservation Institute this year have successfully spawned HUNDREDS of baby Laurel Dace, one of North America's 10 most-endangered fish! 🥳👶🐟

While we are closely watching weather forecasts, the Tennessee Aquarium will be open today, Saturday and Sunday for our regularly scheduled hours.

However, we realize that travel could become tricky for guests traveling from some areas outside of Chattanooga. If needed, guests with pre-purchased tickets may rebook their visit online via a link in the ticket confirmation email.
