This week we are honoring another long term resident, Honey! Honey is an 8 year old Cattle Dog/Heeler mix that weighs 43 pounds and has been back with us since September of 2025. Honey was originally adopted from us in 2020 and then surrendered to McKamey after she had been passed around from home to home. Thanks to her microchip, she found her way back to us. We are so grateful as she is a staff favorite and is evern being fostered by one of our employees just to give her a break from the shelter!
Honey LOVES playing with her toys, especially her squeaky toys. The rubber chicken is currently her favorite but she loves just about anything that makes noise. You can always tell when Honey feels a litte frisky because you can hear her sqeaking away letting you know she wants to play ! She will also play fetch all day long, if you let her. Honey is a great leash walker and enjoys going on walks, hikes, or sniffing strolls. She is m ore of a leisurely walker and also has great recall!
Honey loves getting pets and scratches. Sometimes, when you find the “good” spot, she will even purr! She prefers to be queen of her pack and can be selective on who she lets in her friend group. However, she does great being an “office dog” where she gets to hang out with several dogs of all sizes and genders, and even does great in her foster home around another dog!
