Highway 58 Animal Hospital was established in 1977 by Dr. Lebron Brock.

In 2000, Dr. Brock hired Dr. Shane Whitaker, who became a partner in the hospital in 2005. The practice grew through the loyalty of pet owners in Chattanooga and the surrounding communities of Hixson, Harrison, and Ooltewah. In October 2014, Dr. Brock and Dr. Whitaker opened a new state-of-the-art facility.

Not every lump needs surgery—but every lump deserves an answer. 🩺🐶
Ozzy came in to have a small mass on his back checked out. During his visit, our doctor performed a fine needle aspirate (FNA), a quick, minimally invasive procedure that collects cells from a lump to examine under the microscope.
Cytology can often provide valuable information about a mass without the need for surgery, helping us determine the best next steps for your pet. In Ozzy's case, the results showed a histiocytoma—a common, benign skin growth often seen in younger dogs.
If you notice a new lump or bump on your pet, don't wait to have it checked. Early evaluation can provide peace of mind and help us create the best treatment plan if needed.

Sweet EV visited us today for her spay procedure and was an excellent patient from start to finish. Once she was awake and feeling good, it was time for the most important part of recovery... showing off her adorable shark e-collar! 🦈✨
While the shark look is definitely cute, her e-collar has an important job—to help protect her incision while it heals. Keeping the cone on as directed is one of the best ways to ensure a smooth recovery and prevent complications.
We hope you have a speedy recovery, EV! Thanks for making post-op care look so adorable. 💕

Richue found the coziest place to hang out during his visit, and honestly, we don't blame him! Our team does everything we can to help our feline patients feel safe, comfortable, and stress-free while they're here.
