A Paw And A Prayer Dog Rescue APAAP is a non-profit, SMALL-DOG and puppy rescue in Chattanooga, TN operated by volunteers and funded by monies collected from adoption fees and donations.

No local county/city/state funding. Please shop Amazon/smile and pick us! All A Paw and A Prayer dogs are seen by a licensed veterinarian. All adults are spay/neutered, heartworm tested, dewormed, given rabies and DAPP booster. All puppies are given deworming medication, age-appropriate shots, and spay/neutered if they meet the age/weight criteria determined by the vet. All adults and puppies are

chipped as well! A Paw and A Prayer Rescue started from friends with a common bond - to help dogs that were abandoned, neglected and abused in the Chattanooga and surrounding areas. We are volunteers who work other jobs and in our “spare” time we bring dogs into our home setting and begin the adoption process. We are not funded by any organization and operate from our own resources and donations. We rely entirely on the generosity of friends and strangers. Some dogs come to us by owners who no longer want them or who can no longer care for them. Often owners surrender their pets to local shelters and there is a chance that their beloved pet could be euthanized. This is where APAAP comes into the picture - we try to help reduce the number of pets turned into shelters. We also try to help our local shelters by pulling abandoned adoptable pets into our foster program. As APAAP has grown we have initiated a Foster Parent Program. 🐾🐾MEET WILSON🐾🐾
This precious, tiny, little boy is looking for his forever home. We posted him last week, looking for a foster, after someone was giving him away at way too early of an age. He should not have been taken away from his mother, but was given away by his owner. A wonderful foster stepped up and took him in. He has been supplemented with puppy milk replacer since being with her and has now transitioned to eating puppy food. He is doing
great! Here is what his foster mom says about him: "Dumped at just a few weeks old, but you would never know it by how much love this little guy has to give. ❤️

This sweet boy is approximately 4–5 weeks old and is already doing amazing!

He’s eating mushy wet food like a champ and has already learned to use puppy pads to p*e and p**p. He hasn’t ventured outside into the grass yet, but he’s off to a fantastic start.

He is as sweet as they come and absolutely loves to snuggle. He’s beginning to discover the world around him, batting his little paws at you during playtime and showing more interest in toys every day. Watching his personality come out has been the cutest thing ever.

He’s also doing wonderfully in a crate. He doesn’t scream or carry on—he may whine occasionally, but overall he’s a very calm, easygoing puppy. At night, he sleeps in his crate right beside my 7-month-old Lab’s crate and settles in beautifully.

He absolutely adores my Lab and always wants to be close to her. He’s also very curious about my cat, although I’m not entirely convinced he knows what a cat is yet. 😂 He’s still just a tiny, innocent baby figuring out the world around him.

My kids have simply been calling him “Puppy,” so he doesn’t have a name yet and is young enough that his future family can choose the perfect one.

We estimate that Wilson is about 4 to 5 weeks old. He only weighs about 3 pounds currently. Due to his tiny size, we are not allowing him to go to homes with babies or toddlers for his safety. We do not know what breeds he is mixed with, but expect him to be medium size when grown. We posted this beautiful girl last week, looking for a foster after she was dumped on a busy road with her 4 small puppies. Luckily a wonderful lady stepped up to help her who also happens to be a dog trainer. She has been working with Annie Oakley and now feels that she is ready to find her forever family. Here is what her current foster says about her:
Oakley (Annie Oakley)

When Oakley arrived in foster care she was skin and bones, terrified of almost everything, covered in fleas, with her teats hanging low, and starved for love. Caring for her puppies had nearly starved her.

After about 3 weeks in foster care she has flourished. She has gained confidence with new environments, people, and other dogs. She loves to snuggle with her foster mom and will even get in on some wrestling with her foster fur-siblings. While she has been in her foster home, she has shown a clear love of soft beds and couches. She will happily chew on an antler or a toy, but beware with even the toughest toys... She is a destroyer in sweet doodle fur. She has done well with both home grooming and while getting a professional nail trim. Her foster mom has introduced some basic obedience concepts, and with an attention-based training approach she has shown great ability to learn and adapt. Oakley has enjoyed outings around town at stores and community events. She seems to really love children and she seeks them out for pets and love when out in public.

Oakley's silliest/sweetest accomplishment: She was petrified of the stairs...all stairs. While out on an adventure she came fact-to-face some stairs and refused to move (much like a toddler clinging to the ground). So, foster-mom picked her up like the 55 pound baby that she is and carried her into her first ever cocktail party (much to the delight of the folks at the bottom of the stairs). Within 25 hours of that ordeal she had mastered the stairs in her foster home.

If you're looking for a devoted lover-dog Oakley is the pup for you! She'd love to show you the meaning of cuddle-bug.

--I'd suggest adding something about a fenced yard being a must and that she is an active and athletic dog. An active owner/family would be best.
--Breed guess for me is German wire-haired pointer and poodle.

We put up a post last week about a mama doodle mix and her four sweet puppies who were dumped out on a busy road. Several families stepped up and offered to help by Fostering. This wonderful family was one of them! Today they made it official and Adopted, their sweet boy they have named Winston! Congratulations!

Looking for an emergency foster home for this very sweet, 4 to 5 month old, Corgi/Australian Shepherd mix puppy. His name is Bear and he weighs around 18 pounds. Very friendly. Great with kids and other dogs. Not sure about Cats? His current dad is 84 years old and has a lot of health issues and he cannot handle him. Bear is a very good boy but he is still a puppy so has a lot of energy. He is mostly house trained as long as he is taken out on a regular basis. Needing to find a temporary foster home for Bear to stay at while we work on finding him a forever family. So I (Jennifer) screwed up yesterday and accidentally brought out the wrong dog for someone to meet. This nice lady had come in to meet Winnie and I mistakenly gave her the sister named Virginia. She came back today and we did a switcheroo and she has now taken the correct Dog, Winnie Home to foster to adopt. Virginia is still looking for a forever home too! She did great at this nice ladies home last night. She said she is highly trainable
and is very sweet and affectionate.

I just don't understand how this precious boy hasn't been adopted yet!

Hey Jennifer! Just wanted to give you an update on Winnie, who is now named Willow. She is absolutely precious and such a great puppy. I’ll send a picture of her DNA results. It’s such an interesting result. I’ll also send a few pics of her and her sisters. She is growing and thriving!

This adorable little girl is an approximately one year old, 15 pound, mixed breed (not sure what breeds?). Super friendly! We think she would be fine with older kids. Seems to do well with other dogs. Not sure about Cats? She has been hanging out in the office with me all day and both times that she's needed to go to the bathroom, she went straight to the p*e pad. Such a smart girl! She will also use the bathroom when taking outside on a regular basis. We did witness her trying to climb up the side of a kennel so she would need to be supervised when outside to make sure she cannot climb over a chain-link fence.
