🐾 Mayweather has spent nearly half his life at MAC. Can we change that this October? 🧡

At just 2.5 years old, Mayweather has already spent over a year at McKamey Animal Center. That’s a whole lot of life spent waiting for someone to call his own.

And trust us, this 66-pound guy has SO much love to give! Mayweather loves other animals and is almost always ready to say hello to a new friend. If he can’t get to them, he might just let you know about it! 😂 He’s also a certified lap dog who loves attention, cuddles, and showing off the commands he knows. Plus, he’s a staff favorite!

We’re hoping to find homes for 31 of MAC’s longest residents this October, and Mayweather deserves to be one of them. He’s still so young, and we’d love for him to spend the rest of it making memories outside the center.

🏡 Could you be the one to take Mayweather home this month?

Meet him at McKamey Animal Center and help us make it happen!

🍩 Can we make Donut’s adoption happen this October? 🧡

Donut has been at McKamey Animal Center for nearly 400 days. After struggling in the center, she’s now in foster care, getting the TLC she needs while she waits for her next chapter.

She’s still the sweetest treat around, greeting everyone with a wagging tail and a big smile! Walks? She’s glazed and ready to go. Give her some attention, and she’ll roll right into your heart. 🍩

This October, we’re hoping to find homes for 31 of MAC’s longest residents. Can we make Donut one of those 31? She’s waited long enough, and we’d love to see her find a home of her own.

🏡 Interested in adopting Donut? Come meet her at MAC this week!

💙 FOSTER OF THE WEEK: BART 💙

This goofy, curious, slightly unconventional guy has already had a taste of what life in a home feels like, and we think he'd very much like a permanent invitation back. 🥹

Bart is the kind of dog who makes you laugh without even trying. He's curious about everything, has his own very specific way of looking at the world, and comes with the kind of personality that makes him impossible to forget. He's also a genuinely good dog who deserves a chance to show someone what he's like outside the shelter.

Now we're looking for the person who's ready to make Bart's next chapter a permanent one.

✨ As MAC's Foster of the Week, Bart's adoption fee is WAIVED!

Come meet him at McKamey Animal Center this week! Contact us to learn more about him through his foster parent for extra insight!

Bart has already experienced the good life. Let's help him get back to it. 🐾

🍀 Riza is everyone else’s lucky charm, but when will it be her turn? 🧡

All of Riza’s buddies and roomies at MAC have been adopted, but this lucky girl is still waiting for her own happy ending. 🥹 At just 7 months old, she’s already spent more than 100 days in our care. She’s grown up here, and we’re ready to see her experience life outside the center!

Riza is a tall girl at 38 lbs with a whole lot of puppy left to enjoy! She loves hanging out with other dogs, treats, squeaky toys, and splashing around in the water. She’s a smart girl who already knows a few commands, too! 🐾

Riza could do well in a home with other pups, but we always recommend a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone is a good match. She’ll also do best in a home without cats.

✨ Riza is MAC’s Pet of the Week, which means her adoption fee is WAIVED!

Her buddies have found their homes. Now it’s her turn! Come meet Riza this week and see if your lucky charm has been waiting for you all along. 🍀🧡

We want you to meet Brown Suga again. 🧡

A hard exterior with a soft, warm heart, this 4-year-old, 108-pound guy has surprised us in the best way this past week. A dog we once thought wanted nothing to do with humans is now walking right into the arms of staff and volunteers for hugs.

And yes, he still has his personality! Brown Suga is a couch potato at heart. He’s the kind of guy who wants to lounge around all day, be notified when dinner is ready, then get right back to his Westerns and Dr Pepper. 😂

Brown Suga knows what it’s like to have a home, a routine, and a comfortable place to land. Since coming to MAC, adjusting to kennel life has been hard on him. He can be shy when meeting new people, and his kennel presence doesn’t always show the sweet side we’ve been getting to know. But give him a little time and patience, and you might just find yourself with a 108-pound lap dog.

He’s already house-trained, and we would love nothing more than to see him get another chance at the comfort and love he deserves.

Brown Suga is struggling in the shelter, and he needs someone willing to look past that tough exterior and give him a chance. Come meet him outside his kennel. You might be surprised by just how much love this big guy has to give. 🧡

🐾 Meet Brown Suga at McKamey Animal Center!

🐾 $31 ADULT DOG ADOPTIONS ALL OCTOBER. Can we get 31 of MAC’s longest residents adopted? 🐾

We’re spending October celebrating Adopt a Shelter Dog Month with $31 adoption fees for all adult dogs. And we have a big goal: 31 of MAC’s longest residents finding homes this month.

So, allow us to introduce you to three dogs who have been waiting far too long:

🐕 Copper | 3 years old | 59 lbs
Copper is MAC’s 3rd longest resident, and this guy is READY to get moving! He loves running around and getting his zoomies out, is good on leash, and attends playgroup with his canine pals. He genuinely enjoys spending time with other dogs and would love a home where he can have fun, explore, and be his goofy self.

🐕 Pachi | 2 years old | 73 lbs
Our 4th longest resident is a big, gentle, timid boy who can be a little shy at first. Pachi likes to keep to himself and is almost… cat-like. 😼 Which is especially interesting because he doesn’t actually like cats. 🤨

But he DOES enjoy being around other dogs, going on hikes, and he’s spent time in foster care, so he already knows what it’s like to live in a home. Pachi is a premium pick in our book, and he’s absolutely worth coming to meet.

🐕 Cheeser | 2 years old | 59 lbs
Cheeser is a playgroup regular who loves spending time with other dogs, is good with kids, and has officially been classified as a water bug! Give her some water, and she is READY to splash, play, and have a good time. And yes, she will happily give you plenty of kisses, too.

Three dogs. Three very different personalities. One very important goal.

Can we help get 31 of MAC’s longest residents into homes this October?

Come meet Copper, Pachi, Cheeser, and all of our available dogs at McKamey Animal Center this week.

We know many of you have been waiting for an update on the dog rescued from the drain pipe. ❤️

We have decided to name him Georgie, and he has settled in comfortably under the watchful eye of MAC’s veterinary team, who are still assessing his injuries and overall condition.

We hope to reunite Georgie with his owners, so please share his photo and if you recognize him please let us know.

Thanks again to the employees at Goodwill Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area who reached out for help when they heard Georgie’s cries and to CHAPublicWorks for their collaboration in rescuing Georgie.🫶

We’ll keep you updated on Georgie’s journey. 🐾

A few days ago, employees of the Goodwill Donation Center on Dodds Avenue heard cries and whimpers coming from a location deep within their building.

In an unfortunate incident, this sweet dog fell into a drainage pipe and became trapped in an inaccessible area.

This afternoon, the City of Chattanooga’s Public Works Department successfully dismantled the surrounding concrete, enabling MAC’s Animal Protection Officers to rescue the animal.

The veterinary team at MAC will provide medical attention to the animal following this traumatic experience. We are optimistic that he will recover and thrive under their care.
