After years of working in animal rescue, in 2011 Kelly Holland founded The Animal Rescue Alliance, a 501 (c)3 no-kill shelter and sanctuary. TARA rescues and finds loving homes for abandoned and abused companion and farmed animals, and offers sanctuary to those who have special needs and can sometimes be more difficult to adopt out. Our animals come from a variety of backgrounds, from homeless str

ays and ferals to rescues from kill shelters and hoarding situations. Located at Rancho Providencia, a peaceful four-acre ranch in Chatsworth, CA, TARA is a haven for goats, horses, donkeys, parrots and geese, cats and dogs. Farm animal friends at The Animal Rescue Alliance also provides some limited housing and lifetime care for animals through its trust program, "HAPPILY EVER AFTER." Sometimes rescue means saying “yes” before we know how we’re going to pay for it.

This tiny soul was found abandoned in a box in the San Fernando Valley — scared, hurting, and with an eye so swollen it was beginning to rupture.
Meet Winky. 😘

Against all odds, this little kitten made it through emergency surgery thanks to the incredible work of Dr. Richter and staff from Sherman Oaks Veterinary Group. What could have been the end of Winky’s story became a second chance instead.

But stories like this come with the kind of unexpected rescue costs that hit hard and fast — this surgery alone was upwards of $1,500.

Winky is safe. Healing. Purring. Living to tell the tale.🐾

This beautiful boy, Dodger (ID: A2261836), is at the West Valley Shelter and is scheduled to be euthanized unless a foster or adopter is found immediately. 😢

Dodger is only 3 years old and LOVES children. He deserves a chance at life, love, and a forever home. 🙏🏽🐶

The shelter has extended his euthanization date to MAY 17th — but time is running out.
