Had a great weekend at the MN taxidermy competition & convention. I decided to Moved up to Masters division in small mammal category. Was hoping for a good showing did not expect this. A blue ribbon and my first state championship in small mammals 😱 and a DNR choice award to top it off. So honored and the best part is this coyote hide was given to me by a fellow taxidermist who unfortunately passed away from ALS years ago. So had extra meaning for me. Been holding on to this one for awhile. Feels good to get it done and be successful.

Hunters alert!!! Warm weekend this weekend. Get your deer cooled off to prevent meat spoiling and if it’s a trophy get to your preferred taxidermist asap so it can be caped and in freezer. Hides spoil faster than the meat does!

Update for the 2024 deer season!!!

We recently purchased a new house in Chatfield on the other side of town and will be moving at the end of October. Due to the craziness of moving and the fact I will not have my shop setup for working let alone taking deer in, I have decided to NOT take any deer in for the 2024 hunting season. This includes European skulls.

I may still take in a few small mammal projects but that will be up to my discretion. Call for availability.

Also on the CWD front i will still do samples if they are needed.

This will allow me time to focus on family and getting house and shop setup properly. Also it will allow me to get caught up current work that i already have from the last year.

If you are successful this season and you do need recommendations for taxidermist in the area i can give you a few referrals to other high quality taxidermist.

**New Transport Law Changes in MN**

The Minnesota Taxidermy Guild has been working hard to implement a change in the CWD Cervid "Deer" Transport Laws in Minnesota. Recently the MNDNR changed the laws and will now allow out of state Cervids to be brought into MN without having to cape it off the skull. Cervids are all deer; Whitetails, Elk, Moose, Muleys etc. Animals still have to be quartered and no spine attached to legally bring back into Minnesota. But you are allowed to bring in a whole cape, with the skull and horns still attached into MN. You are then given 48 hours upon entering MN to bring your trophy to a lisenced Taxidermist. This applies for European mounts too. Be sure to check the 2024 Hunting bylaws for the complete description of the new law changes.
