Pack of Paws Dog Training is recommended by local veterinarians, animal control officers, trainers and other animal professionals for puppy classes, obedience classes and for problem solving. 💡 Quick Tip: Don't wait until you need a behavior to practice it. Call your dog to you when you're hanging out at home, or reward a few steps of loose-leash walking in the driveway. Lots of easy successes help build skills you can rely on when distractions are harder.

Bob is a graduate of our Professional Dog Trainers Program, and we’re happy to have him continue his journey with us in a new role.

🇺🇸 Labor Day Weekend Hours

Pack of Paws will be closed September 5th, 6th, and 7th for Labor Day weekend. We’ll be back to our regular schedule after the holiday!

💡 Quick tip: Taking your dog along for Labor Day plans? Bring a few high-value treats and reward calm behavior around new people, dogs, and distractions. Don’t wait until your dog is overwhelmed to intervene. Give them space and quiet breaks throughout the day.

Sometimes the best choice for your dog is skipping the party altogether and enjoying a peaceful day at home.

June was another successful month in the scent work world for Dr. Kristine Sklenak, who also coaches our Nose Work classes here at Pack of Paws.

Fizz made his first attempt at a NACSW NW1 trial, earning a Third Place ribbon in Vehicles while gaining valuable experience. He followed that up at a USCSS Intermediate trial on June 30, where he earned First Place in Vehicles and Third Place in Exterior, continuing to build confidence and consistency.

Kyta also had an impressive showing at the June 28 USCSS trial, successfully completing his Senior Containers title, which also earned him his overall Senior level title.

Congratulations to Kristine, Fizz, and Kyta on another month of outstanding accomplishments in scent work!

Congratulations to our newest Obedience Level 2 grads!

These teams took the skills they learned in OB 1 and raised the bar with longer stays, stronger recalls, better focus, and more reliability around distractions.

All that practice is paying off, and now they’re ready for the next challenge!

Next stop: Advanced Obedience! That’s where we work toward real-world, off-leash reliability.

Our Therapy Dog Prep class helps teams build the skills and confidence needed to prepare for therapy dog evaluations and real-world visits. You'll work on polite greetings, reliable obedience, calm behavior in distracting environments, and the manners expected of therapy dog teams.

Whether your goal is to visit hospitals, nursing homes, schools, libraries, or community events, this class provides a strong foundation for your journey.

June wrapped up with another successful USCSS Scent Work trial in Auburn, MA for Joyce Gauthier, who also teaches Agility classes here at Pack of Paws.

Kismet qualified in 4 of 5 searches, earned two Second Place finishes, one Fourth Place finish, and completed three individual Novice titles, continuing an impressive run in scent work.

July was all about welcoming a new family member! Joyce traveled to Virginia to bring home Blackthorn's Havoc in the House ("Mayhem"), who joined the family on July 10. Over the past few weeks, Mayhem has settled in beautifully, and we're excited to watch this young pup grow and begin what promises to be an exciting journey in dog sports.
